I just had a funny thought.

You know us mages have quite a lot of items with, of course, mage stats and mainly +Damage, but also with a little +Healing.

This patch brought the following change: +Healing will also give a little +Damage.

Does that mean that for us mages such items will actually be

+Damage +{useless Healing)+A little extra damage from the +healing? Smiley: tongue

If not, I wonder how did Blizz diferentiate? Did the priests actually see on their character sheet the + Damage being modified after the patch to show the new increase in damage from the +healing?

Unfortunately no. Blizzard simply updated the items, not the bonus from the stats. So an item such as this went from 84+healing to 84+healing and 28+damage.

But it was a good thought! I thought of it too before I saw these items lol.

An item with +Damage and Healing will still usually have more damage than a +Healing one will.

Of course, though.. While levelling, it is quite possible to find a healer item that has better stats and more damage. The healing means nothing to you, but if it's still an all-around upgrade, use it.

This change at least allows a healer to do *something* when the tank is so over-geared he takes almost no damage.

That's not what the change was for...although it was a side effect.

The change was so that healers could spec and gear for healing while levelling and still do some damage when solo. Otherwise they would take forever to kill anything simply because of a lack of DPS. This change makes it so they dont go to the same damage as a damage-based build, but they still can do some.
