Ok guys, please don't take this post TOO seriously, but...
I just started a male Blood Elf priest. Up until about lvl 18 my tailor alt could make him vests that were better than any of the robes that were available.
In the right shirt pants and vest, he was kind of tough looking. I got used to my butch little priest running around the Ghostlands.
Now my tailor is making him robes. The stats are nice, but what's the point of all those hours pumping iron at the Silvermoon YMCA if he's got to cover his muscles with a loose fitting robe?
So, is there any alternate chest gear out there for priests, or is it gonna be nothing but robes from now on?

There are definitely options. For example, in your 60s you'll be able to choose between crafting yourself a Netherweave Robe or a Netherweave Vest--very similar items with very different looks.
My advice if your toon's appearance is so important to you is to get an addon that will automatically switch your clothes when you are in town. That way no matter what you're wearing for its stats when adventuring, you can always show off your most metro outfit when you're running around the crowded cities, and when you log on and off your loading screen will show you in those clothes. Wardrobe-AL is an example.

Masculine and BE are things that dont really work together. On top of that robes have kind of always defined the look of casters in general and you might want to get used to it do to the fact tha virtually all of the good cloth chest armor are robes.
Come on, robes are awesome.
A lot of what you'll see are robes, especially once you hit 70. Between then, there's a number of none-robe options. For example, Dreamweave Vest, the chest piece from Uldaman, and one of the quest rewards in the new Dustwallow quests.

I can't stand wearing any but robes on my draenei priest. He looks awkward with a big broad chest and oddly shaped legs so I prefer robes. Plus it helps that some of the best loot is from robes.
At 25 the silver thread set looks kinda tough. That's what MY priest is wearing at the moment anyway. It's black with (believe it or not) silver trim.
And.. As someone mentioned about addon that covers you to something else than robe when you go to place where you might not be alone.. Like SMC.
After all, you wear pants and shirt (most propably) under your robe.. So, Just take the robe off when you are not healing / damaging something :D

In my opinion the stuff from SFK looks extremely cool on any race.
