My Mage and KaraFollow

#1 Nov 14 2007 at 9:59 AM Rating: Decent
Unfortunately i have y et to do kara properly with my guild, but most of us are getting geared up as one of our holdbacks were some ppl leaving and what not.

MY question is can someone please inspec my guy and tell me if i am geared enough for Kara.

Im more so confused cause a few ppl have said my gear lacks for raiding and i just dont even know where to start lol some one plz help

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Eonar&n=Syphtox

My mana is about 9400 Buffed and my Crit is 21 % with molten armor when i do use it and my Hit Rating is 110-120 with my proper pve gear

Keep in mind im a few mats from Spellstrike pants and I do have the Scryers Gem witht he +32 Hit rating on it in case that comes up as an issue. and i dont use the Veterns Bracers i have hit rating on my PVE bracers in case these come up as issues :)

Other than that just kinda an opinion if my gear is substantial enough for Karazhan and Zul-Aman

Thank you very much

And i know my spec might also throw some ppl off as it is looked at as bad but i can pump out amazing DPS for frost and still manage my threat so i dont get pwnt in 1 hit :)

the gear is fine for early Kara. And depending on your group as a whole you should be fine all the way to the end.... maybe. Yes the spec bothers me. It really doesn't matter how much damage you can pump out in Heroic SV with that build. What bothers me is how you will do aganst say Moroes (2nd boss in Kara) where your going to have to beat down 3-4 mobs of very high lvl THEN the boss. I don't really see how you can keep up the DPS with just all frost. I do see how you can keep up on DPS with frost/arcane.. but then your going to be oom before you ever get to the boss. Haveing the frozen shadow weave set and then going Arcane is just a waste of gear. Feel free to raid as frost.. it's not that bad in lower raids.

It's really all going to depend on your group. With gear and a build like that, if your at the top of the damage meter then you guys won't make it half way though. As you are now you shouldn't be topping the meter.

You have above average starting out gear for kara. You are going to want as much +hit as possible until the cap. You might think about gemming some veiled noble topaz's. You should check and see how much your damage would be if you were full frost. I have a frost mage in the guild with 1100 dmg and he tops the fire mages. Frost is viable for raiding, and frost is nice for mobs like tin man and the other mobs in moroes. Any time you can slow something down, the easier it is to kill it.

As far as your spec goes, I would change the arcane tree and frost tree to something like this . Shatter is not going to help you in raids as much as other places. For granted you might be able to get a quick ice lance off, but most likely not. Precision is a great talent to have, it makes it that much easier to get to the hit cap. Frost channeling reduces your threat even more, which means you have to worry about aggro that much less.

If you have a decent tank you shouldn't pull aggro so you don't need the extra survival. Just stats to boost your dps which include filling up MM and potency. Fortitude is worthless and the extra mana regen while casting is much more valuable.

thanks for the responses.

As i do try and raid as much as possible

and im a high dmg dealer

As full frost or the frost raid spec my +dmg drops emmensely to be honest either way.

My hit rating is abotu 120 with the hit rating gear i trade in.

Im a huge PVPER so i specced something that i can use in Raids/Instances aswell as PVP and not having to spend 50g constantly

I am planning to spec fire once i get past the point where the crafted pieces will become replaceable because frankly i dont feel like refarming all those mats talk about the ultimate bore lol

Personally as Arcane Frost i chose Arcane for the dmg boosts and what not and frost as my base dmg.

You did say " As you are now you shouldn;t be topping the meters"

Im confused as to why its not my main concern, the few raids i have taken part in i havent topped meters but thats due to me watching my Omen and making sure i keep a nice threat lvl without pulling aggro.

I did play with Full Frost and i found my Dmg to drop about almost 150ish or more as im at just over 1k now i wasnt doing as much dmg, my crits were less and as i PVP and do PVE stuff i tried to just find a balance in the spec to be used in both scenario's.

Basically just wanted to make sure my gear was alright i was told im not ready to raid but what more can i get outside of raiding really, not much m ore.

If your damage drops by 150 or so depending on MM, the still puts you at like 850 or so. You could go full frost and get the ultimate pvp spec and ultimate survivability in raids and you will have your WE to help you boost your dps.

You should check out Lhivera's Calculator and compare your options. It helped me alot in choosing what to respec to etc.

How do you run out of mana? I am 40/0/21, I have over 11k mana buffed, With arcane you have so many things that help conserve mana, I NEVER run out of mana. I usually have atleast 1/2 mana at the end of each boss fight. I dunno, I have always been partial to frost, and my DPS is right up there with the fire mages =)

Frost and Fire are both viable specs for raiding =)
