Im probably going to respec ele when the realms come up. My question is, is it worth speccing into tow over ns with the new lightning overload "buff"? i mainly pvp/5man until i get keyed and start raiding

not really, the rule still stays ToW for raids, NS for pvp.

i might be wrong, feel free to correct me.

=D

Nope, NS is just so much better for PvP. The added survivability and flexibility it provides outweigh the benefit of ToW 100x in a PvP scenario. ToW is a raid essential though.

As stated above TOW is best for raids, especially with the new buff added. It's now 3% to hit and crit, wich makes it alot more useful. NS though would pretty much own on PvP.

No, First of all why take Unrelenting Storm, for PvP. You should be targeting burst and survivability, not mana conservation. Drop the 2 points from this. Second lose AK from enhancement, this is not the ultimate talent you seem to think it is. If you have 10000 mana it will buff it by 500. Not exactly game changing especially in PvP.

I don't know what you were thinking in the resto tree... Healing Grace WTF, I know you had to spend a point somewhere but in a threat reduction talent? It's a PvP build FFS. Lose Ancestral Healing as well and put 4 points in Totemic Focus.

This leaves us 10 points to spend in Elem. I would personally sink 2 in Earth's Grasp for the increased range on Earthbind (though Imp Fire Nova is also an option for the burst). 3 in Elemental Shield for a nice little chunk of survival then 5 in Lightning Overload, this is now a PvP Essential, the elemental answer to WF.

The final build looks like this.

No, Again first and foremost lose AK from Enhancement. Then we need to Lose Imp Fire Nova and Reverberation from Elemental, take Elemental Warding (not essential for Kara but absolutely necessary for much of the 25 man content.

That gives us 9 to spend, let's head over to resto and cap out Totemic Focus, Totemic Mastery and Natures Guidance. Final build looks like this.

For early raids you could also drop the 2 points from Improved Reincarnation and the 3 from Elemental Warding and take Reverberation. It's really up to you.

i always thought for a PVE raid build this would be the way to go, the most hit, the most crit, and mp5 along with massive crit saves mana as well, or is it just too suicidal?

Unrelenting Storm is really not as great as it seems, even with a collosal amount of int. You can get all the MP/5 you'll ever really want or need in straight MP/5 from gear, and Elemental is an extremely tight spec as it is. In order to allow for it you're holding off on capping certain talants and passing others up completely.

Hmm, Tidal Mastery, sounds like a good idea. Perhaps I'll try sacrificing Reverb for it...

his is what i like for pvp:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?2503014503021005135000000000000000000000052030051004010000000

Gives you lots of defensive and offensive talents to help you take the damage and still dish it out. Although for mana in raids this is a poor spec but with mage water should get you through any 5 man heroic or regular giving you survivability and some useful tricks to save the day (mainly Nature's swiftness)

For pve i would say:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?5503011500001535105100000000000000000000050105301005000000000

This build gives you all the best talents for when you start raiding with lots of +spell hit and spell from just talents (total of 9) and Totem of wrath to further help you and any casters in your group with more crit and hit. This build also makes your totems and spells cheap and you get lots of mana from unrelenting storm a must for raiding.

As you get better gear you can tweak this build to gain more talents as you need less and less spell hit from gear which you get plenty from your raiding epics if thats what your into, with enough spell hit you gain 3 more talents to redistribute into resto for talents more useful (you only need 14% spell hit)

Gaudion don't bash on one of our most powerful PvE talents Unrelenting storm is amazing I get about 45 mana per 5 seconds from this talent which is huge for pve, throw in my mana stream for another 50 more, and the new water sheild which is about another 50 mana per 5 seconds, and if you have it totem of pulsing earth from heroic badge vendor for those longer fights which saves you 25 mana every LB I would estimate its like gaining 40 mana every 5 seconds... with those alone I have about over 250 mana regen per 5 seconds while casting, thats huge.

What order did you take your talents?

sunsoarer, you really would rather have 15% improved fire totem damage than crit chance on your lightning bolt for PVE? REALLY?!?!? REALLY?!?!?! I'm sorry that just makes no sense to me.
