Why on these forums?Follow

Just a question I spend a lot of time on the wow forum. Why do you guys post here? More mature, more knowledgeable, or just because?

Well I can think of a couple reasons. First and foremost being that when you sign on to the worldofwarcraft forums you are not using a secure connection to use the same login as your wow account. This means it the page is passing your login information in the clear. If you do switch the url to https:// in the front it switches back to http:// yet still lets you post as your character. So for me this is by far more secure for my wow accounts then posting on the forums.

I read the warcraft forums but never post there once I noticed this behaviour as Blizzard says to protect your account login information and then doesn't help you protect it.

Yes I have sent customer support a letter about this and told the gms about this behaviour about a year ago or so. So far there has been no changes so I do not post on the http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com site.

The O-Boards have a little too much leet-speak for my tastes. These forums are a bit more laid back. This site loads a lot faster as well.

I agree with both points there, also the people on WoW Alla appear more mature then the official boards and FFXI lolkhazam.

I first got introduced to alla from FFXI. Unlike in warcraft, alla was THE place you went to for information in FFXI. There was no wowhead, or thottbot, or anything like that, the only place to go was alla. If it wasn't on alla, you weren't going to find it. There also weren't any forums done by square, so you also came here for all your forum needs. Then when I quit FFXI I saw that there was a warcraft side to here (although it wasn't as good as some other places at the time, they were just starting their warcraft section) and I just continued to use it.

My story is exactly the same as Dilbrt's.

Another thing I like about Alla as compared to the O-boards is that there are consequences to posting asshat posts. All the way to the point of them just disappearing from view and eventually from the forums themselves.

It's easy, the o-boards were full of complete and utter cretinous fools.

So I left.

Apparently it's much better there now ;)

I never read these "O-boards", and I used to frequent the official WoW forums, but I got tired of the immature posts there, so I quit reading them. I used Thottbot for a long time, not the forums just the site's info, but then when I got some weird error not letting me log in anymore (don't ask >.<) I started searching for an alternative site, and found this!

There was just too much noise on the WoW boards - half leet-speak and half b*tching and moaning. This board seems to focus a lot more on discussion and information and a lot less on the personalities.
