What makes a successful druid?Follow

What it says on the tin really!

I just wanted to get the personal opinions of those who play druids, so there are no real right or wrong answers.

Off the top of my head:
-Use all your shapes when needed.
-Don't roll the class to be a leet DPSer, you're so much more than that.
-Improvise and be flexible. Do not be afraid to change your strategy based on the situation.

All in all, I really think "Use all your abilities" sums it up.

Yep, what they said. Approaching every fight the same way is for rogues. Versatility is the name of the game here. That means:

- Thinking fast
- Doing what's going to work best vs. falling into the pattern of always wanting to play your favorite role or fight your favorite way (or in your favorite form)
- Remembering what all those little buttons on your toolbar do, not just the first four. This one is a personal struggle for me, it becomes a lot to keep track of. :)

I love being able to be in a group witha warrior and healer. DPS then pop out and throw an emergency heal on someone, OT if I need to. I wish I would have rolled a druid from the get go. It is so much easier to get a group together being a tank/healer then it was on my mage.

Yup, Filling all roles at the appropriate times makes a good druid.

Not playing the class to its fullest potential makes a bad druid.

Even after being 70 for five months, im still VERY pleased with my druid, and still learning how/when/what to do.

Variety is the Spice of Life, and my spice rack is full!

The "bad" druids are the ones that think they're one thing only. For example, a feral that never leaves cat form even when their team might be screaming for an emergency heal or offtank, or a resto druid that refuses to go bear even if the team needs someone to absorb some dam for awhile and they have another healer. Or a moonkin druid that plays it like a mage and never takes advantage of their high armor and ability to regenerate mana with some melee hits.

I just posted this on another thread, but it seemed appropriate to this thread also:

"I leveled as a balance druid (focused on range but did offheal and offtank on occasion) to L 55 or so, went resto from 55 to 60 and was main guild healer at L 60 for awhile... then switched to feral a few months before the Burning Crusade and was main tank in my guild all the way up to L 70.

As my guild "matured" we found we had an excess of tanks and not enough healers so I specc'd resto, and now often lead in healing in Kara and sometimes in Gruul.

Yet... a month ago we had our main offtank go on an extended leave, and we were lacking an OT for Kara so I respecc'd to a 42 resto/19 feral build, and I now often offtank for Kara up through curator. And yes, it works-- I hold aggro well enough and have enough armor and dodge that I can be kept up against the early bosses in Kara as an OT. I sometimes am tapped to main tank regular five-persons and do that fine.

So now I'll often lead in healing the nights I heal, and I'll OT successfully in Kara when that's needed (though I'm obviously not close to being a "real" tank like our MT is). I'll even DPS some nights, though that's the weakest of my three abilities I think (well caster DPS is even weaker).

You want versatility and the ability to change specs and have a toon that feels "brand new"? Druids are a blast :)."

Yup - have to agree with all above..

Versatile & adapting to current situation is the way to go for true druids..

we are, after all, hybrids and like shamans can offer a great deal and change the tide of events by using the right skills for given moment.

I love levelling my druid (got a feeling hybrids such as us aren't so easy to play as versatile, adaptive heroes at end-game as Bliz' seems to make the end-game instances more suited for specific roles but there's still room to change and adapt in emergencies i hope).

Change forms, use all your skills, react fact, watch out for the clothies and protect them, shift and heal when needed, entangle, shift, chase down, shift, grawrr.. etc.. etc..

;)

Most fun class around (and most challenging to play well) i think ;)
