Well, assuming you are a mage, and not an accidental mispost in the mage forum (it happens), tailoring is excellent. The gear you can create for yourself is kind of like T 4.5. ;-) It's great and won't be replaced for a long while.

For Mages, tailoring is an amazing profession. You can get gear that can take you past most of Kara (5 pieces or so) to help you progress faster. JC is simply a money sink assuming you just want to cut gems. There is decent money (depending on your server) for buying/mining mats and then propsecting them.
