Well, I'm going to bring back my 35 'lock, and I had a quick question about spec (age old annoying question I know). This may be a no-brainer, but I just want to double check. I absolutely adore the affliction tree. Then I want to decide on a supplement tree, demo vs destro.

Demo will allow slightly better HS, improved stats, better "armors", and better imp.

Destro will give better SBs and shorter imp FB casting time.

Basically it comes to 41/20/0 vs 41/0/20

Currently I am leaning toward destro, but what do you think?

If I messed up on my points anywhere please notify me.

Edit: Forgot to mention, this is mainly for PvE with enough maneuverability to get some HKs in BGs and I just realized cataclysm might be better than aftermath

43/7/11 is a good general purpose spec, you get the healthstones, 15% stamina, faster shadowbolts and shadowburn.

I wouldn't worry too much about that right now, you've still got another 35 levels to go so just focus on what you need right now.

I'd get what I want in affliction first and then start using points in the demo tree while leveling. When you hit 70 you'll still have to work some on your gear and then respec for raiding.

Destro means standing still a lot and, IMO, that doesn't make sense with all those points in affliction. Besides, I think you've spent your affliction points pretty strange too...I'd rather use something like this (with three points to spare, and I'd consider putting two in suppression).
That's a nice versatile build for you that'll allow you to keep a good pace grinding the gold and mats you'll need for upgrading your gear, have some fun in BGs and doing 5-mans.

Mike, wouldn't I gimp myself if I were to not do a full 20 points into one of the others, or is it just one of those balance things?

A while back (about ~5 months) I saw a heated debate on using SB with affliction builds, and that during the time it takes to have to reapply your first dot, you should be able to fit in X number of SBs to maximize dmg. It started off with somebody asking why you would want +spell crit (or similar DD stat) with an affliction build when dots dont crit. I guess I had it in my head that that is the route I should go. Any viability to that as of today?

PS: sorry it took so long to respond, been busy

I wasn't very clear with what I meant.
In solo pve, you'll be using DoTs and drain, no need for shadow bolting there.
In pvp you will be moving around and throwing out DoTs on multiple target, stop to shadowbolt and you'll get hit by a rogue quite fast.
The place where you'll be using shadow bolts is in instances.

So my mobility remark was in regard to pvp, I should've pointed that out :)

I thought destro was the best, or one of the best specs for pvp?

This latest patch has made me start raising my lock again.

She was just over lvl 38, now she's half a lvl away from 40.

Can't wait for my mount!

Also can't wait to have some spell DPS in outlands.
