... mainly for thunder/deep thunder/stormherald in PvP, and although haste has been nerfed, the haste proc from drakefist hammer doesn't sound too bad stacked with flurry, abacus trink and windfury. my main focus will be for the 2h weapon, as i pretty much need arena epics to upgrade my gear due to RL conflicts making frequent raiding impossible... if i'm lucky, i can raid once a week. i got called into SSC on short notice the other day, but that ended disasterously when i aggro'd the gf XD i was able to run kara last weekend, but can't continue today due to work.

i've been axesmith for a little while, and though i love the +crit for PvE, with my limited PvP skills it's really only good for a 1400ish arena rating and falls flat on its face once we start running into teams with enough resilience. the extra attack procs on the 2h sword don't have the synergy of the haste procs on the mace 1hander, and that's what i don't like about the BS sword spec.

if you (yes, you!) can talk me out of hammersmith and into swordsmith or staying with axesmith, i'd like to hear your reasons for that spec.

From some of the Vids. I have seen on the "PVP Warrior Vids" Post I would say that wouldnt be too bad a idea if stun procs alot, but I'm not 70 yet so I'm not sure how it feathers out. Tho it seems like that is worth it if you are going to PvP alot...

sword spec will still be best for PVE if you're going to 2h.

as far as pvp goes, i'd rather have a flat bonus to swing than pray for the stun effect or get resilience to negate my crit from axe spec.

That argument doesn't really work russki, considering sword spec is a chance on hit for an extra attack as well. I'm not exactly sure what the chance of each proc happening (Mace Spec stun, Sword Spec extra swing), but either way you're waiting and hoping for a proc to happen. I'd personally prefer the mace spec, because any time your opponent is NOT moving is good for a warrior, as it means you're free to beat on them at your leisure.

I completely agree on saying no to axes though. With resilience it's just not worth it.

you don't hope for the extra hit though because even if you don't get it, you still are going to do ~the same damage as you are doing with axes and maces. just when it DOES proc, you're doing SIGNIFICANTLY more.

plus new dr's and etc, blah @ maces.

Lol, know what ya mean

Anyway i got both the little hammer and the big one (actually tdrakefist is almost bigger then that tiny thunder) both working just fine, the drakefist best..when you got another good 1-hander you're a duel wielder with a nice proc for pvp

when you got thunder and later the deep one (hopes it gets bigger after upgrade) you have yourself a nice MS warrior no matter what nerf..

But then again i think its something personal

sword spec is more damage than any other spec. the extra attack has the exact same crit chance as any other attack. so that 5% extra attack is more than 5% extra overall damage. It's also major rage generation. and can't be negated by any stat other than dodge/miss chances, but that works on swords, axes and maces equally. It can proc on abilities that normally do very little damage, ergo hamstring, rend.

axe spec is nice in pve because flurry depends on crits. if you can keep flurry up, you deal more damage. end of story their. But in pvp, resilience > axes hardcore.

mace spec is less damage, but you basically get a free attack on your target. it's mostly useless in endgame pve. (unless grinding or leveling).

the question is, have i chosen the correct weapon spec to succeed in arenas for arena epics? or do i really need to stack my stuns in order to succeed (ie rerolling tauren warrior for intercept stun/concussion blow/war stomp/mace proc)?

mace spec is probably the best for PvP.

sword spec is probably the best for PvE.

sword spec can function well in PvP, while mace spec does not function well in PvE.

It's worth noting that the Lionheart series also blows bloody chunks, which somewhat diminishes the attractiveness compared to other Smithing weapons.

Mace Spec is king in PvP, even with the nerfs. It's still a ~11% chance with a 3.8 speed weapon to land that stun, and the stun wins matches far, far more than the 5% chance to double-attack does. Simply shutting down their dodge leads to far more damage than the Sword Spec gives you, which doesn't even factor in stopping casts/kiting.
