Resilience in pvp?Follow

Why does all uber gear have so much resilience? All the nice purple pieces that I like from arena or items that can be bought with honor points give bonus to resilience. I understand that it is really important but joining together all those items would give me like 150 resilience which is more than nessecary (I know that we need something like 110 for any boss)

Why does pvp gear stuck up so much of this stat? Is it that important when you face other players? (so that 110 can be enough for mobs, still not enough for other players?) If this is the case, then I can see a use in that. Else, I'll have to focus on other boots/belts/wrist armor even if I get lower basic stats from them, instead of the ones I have in mind (I was thinking of veteran armor for these three)

PvP gear is designed for PvP.

PvE gear is designed for PvE.

Rogues can often have in the region of 15-20% crit chance even with 400 Resilience! Not only is that a hefty reduction (10%) to the chance, but all their crits will be hitting for something like 15% less!

Indeed, you must understand that Resilience is almost entirely a PvP stat. Arena/PvP gear is nice to get started in raids and all that but it should be replaced ASAP by gear that trades that Resilience for more useful stats.

At 70 it takes a bit less than 40 Resilience to cancel out 1% crit chance. And as ecirphsoj stated, most classes have crit chance in the 20ish range, if not more. In PvP, Resilience is the new Stamina.

In PvE, I don't suggest relying on Resil to get crit-immune, but if you're sporting an Arena/PvP piece, might as well benefit from it.

I'd hold up on the Veterans gear as well. Vindicator gear will be coming up in the next week or two with better stats.

resilience is necessary to survive in pvp. on my warrior, i can easily tell when people dont have any resilience. the ones without resilience get three-and-four-shotted. the ones with resilience live orders of magnitude longer. its a large part of the difference between a 3500 MS crit and a 2000 MS crit (the other part being the increased armor the pvp sets have).
