Unless there are any last minute changes, this is how it shapes up for Hunters:

Quote:
Hunters

* Aimed Shot (Marksmanship) now reduces healing done to that target by 50% for 10 seconds.

* Arcane Shot (Ranks 6 and above) now dispel 1 Magic effect in addition to their normal damage.

* Explosive Trap: The initial damage dealt by this trap is now also increased by 10% of your ranged attack power.

* Expose Weakness: The triggered effect from this talent will no longer use up charges of Misdirection.

* Immolation Trap: The total damage dealt by this trap is now also increased by 10% of your ranged attack power.

* Misdirection: This spell will now always be removed correctly if multiple Hunters overwrite each other's Misdirection.

* Misdirection: If a Hunter attempts to use this ability on a target which already has an active Misdirection, the spell will fail to apply due to a more powerful spell already being in effect. This will not trigger the cooldown or cost any mana.

* Readiness: This talent now finishes the cooldown on Kill Command.

* Serpent Sting, Immolation Trap and Explosive Trap all gain additional damage based on ranged attack power.

* Serpent Sting: The total damage dealt by this sting is now also increased by 10% of your ranged attack power.

* Steady Shot: Tool tip clarified to indicate base weapon damage is used in the damage calculation.

* Trueshot Aura (Marksmanship) no longer costs mana to cast and will last until canceled.

* Wyvern Sting (Survival) is now instant cast and has a maximum duration of 10 seconds in PvP.

* Wyvern Sting: This ability will no longer be overwritten by lower ranks of Wyvern Sting.

In short, a bloody excellent patch for Hunters. Aimed Shot suddenly got more viability, but still won't be cluttering up shot rotations unless the encounter could use it by alot. (Romeo and Juliet perhaps? Could be useful if you are still learning the encounter/undergeared). Not to mention higher viability for trapopener, CCopener or opener in general in PvP.

Speaking of PvP, Arcane Shot suddenly shines alot brighter. Not that it wasn't used at every possible jumpshot already, but it will suddenly mean something besides damage.

The trap thing is welcome, because those traps were somewhat underpowered. Still, won't make us Hunters AoE masters anytime soon. Still, fun to use on hordes of trash. Immo Trap suddenly looks alot better for singletargets though.

Still won't waste mana on Serpent Sting. Too little damage compared to manacost. If any sting at all, I'll throw a Scorpid on the hard hitters.

And now to the real juicy goodness. Instant Wyvern Sting? WOOHOO! PvP Viability once more! Instant CC with poison damage (unless overwritten by Scorpid) coupled with Traps, Scatter and Wing Clip suddenly gives us a whole lot more viability in Arena's. Not to mention CCing in Heroics. I've already convinced every single Guildy about the virtues of a good CC Hunter, and this will just become epic indeed during those harder Heroic runs.

So, Excellent patch indeed.

I'm looking forward to the MD fixes. We raid with 3 to 4 hunters including myself, ******** up someone's MD is a good way to really ****** the raid.

Also we're forgetting we have talent points for our stings, wonder if they are going to be worthwhile to put points in now.

So, I haven't seen it in the release notes, but it still seems to be part of the PTR; Are they actually changing the minimum range for ranged attacks for us? I know there was quite an uproar for a while, but I don't know if it was ever determined to be forthcoming or not. Has anyone heard?

There are also new ammo bags and quivers that can hold 20 and 24 stacks of each. The 24 slot versions require a nether and two primals; I'm wondering if that is worth the cost of 6 more slots (the attack speed % bonus is still 15%).

The tooltip I saw on worldofraids.com last night showed Aimed Shot going from a 8-35yd effective range to 5-41yd. I'm assuming the 6 yard extension was a talent thing, but it looks like at least aimed shot got 3 yards knocked off of its minimum range. I haven't seen anything else that confirms/refutes an overall changed to minimum effective range aside from what Blizzard tentatively announced a few weeks back.

Forgot to add this and I reckoned it deserved a new post for it:

According to the patch notes, pet AI has been adjusted so that your pet will now attempt to get behind mobs when attacking. Great news for Hunters involved in fights with a lot of frontal AoEs (cleaves, etc.). I can still see a use for Avoidance, but no damage taken from frontal attacks is even better :D

All the tooltips on the PTR are showing as 5-35 yard range. The conventional wisdom says that if it's on the PTR it'll make it to the live server tomorrow. I guess I'll just wait and see ...

What?! NO! That's the thing that I've been looking forward to the most. I'm so sick of being completely useless in close quarters with parties.

Useless period, it sounds like. I have yet to be in an instance where I can't use my ranged attacks, except possibly on Attumen depending on strategies. Melee classes have it far worse on most bosses, having to deal with craptons of AoE nasties. Hell, melee classes have it worse on trash for that matter.

Our class is insanely powerful, with awesome solo ability and very high DPS ability in raids. If you can't deal with a petty little thing like the deadzone you fail as a Hunter, period. I can only recommend deleting your character and creating a... you know what? Just delete your character and leave it at that. I am sure the Hunter community would survive it.

HOLY CRAP

All players now have a tracking bubble on their minimap. From that menu you can select a specific type of vendor or npc to look for or you can select a specific tracking type if your character has tracking. Yes this means that hunters can take all of those tracking buttons off of their action bars.

I saw that under the User Interface section on the patch notes.

*TEARS OF JOY*

Not only will we get to take all those tracking skills off of our action bars, we can track general vendors and food vendors for arrows and pet food.

Well, useless is an overstatement on my part, but your response is just uncalledfor, ***. If I couldn't deal with the deadzone, I wouldn't have played my hunter for so long. Yes, I would GREATLY appreciate losing the deadzone so I won't have to interrupt my DPS because of close quarters, but I won't stop topping DPS charts because of something I've been dealing with for two years.

If he's going to insult anything and everything, i dont think he cares if you hold a grudge or not.

Thank god. I hate getting run over by spriests. Still not gonna use it outside of openers without fitting it into my rapid fire time... unless they bring the time down to 2 seconds... /hint_hint

Recently switched to SV and was learning to deal with the 1.5 second cast... thank blizzard for making my transition sooo much easier!

There was also information, that casting time of Aimed Shot is lowered to 3 sec.
Volley Shot has new animation.

Does anybody knows the compendium of new hunter loot? I mean all new loot for hunters, including drops from ZA, heroic badge rewards, etc.?
