Anti-Melee Arena Build: Idealistic?Follow

I was bored the other day and was messing around with different builds when I thought about trying to make a PvP Arena-oriented build that specialized in controlling pesky melee classes while stilling having applications for ranged combat.

I came up with a build, but I'm questioning its effectiveness. It has three of the best anti-melee abilities (intimidation, scatter shot, and deterrence,) as well as clever traps to help cope with cooldowns on said abilities and a focus on increased armor and health for survivability (and increased pet dps for the heck of it.)

I figure it couldn't hurt having a large number of "crises control" options, but I'm aware that hybrid builds have a tendency to prove ineffective because they fail to take advantage of the superior "bottom of the tree" talents.

To get to the reason I'm posting: I'm relatively new to hunters and was wondering what more experienced people would have to say about this build.

It's simply an idea I had and I would be appreciative of any advice on tweaks I could make to improve it. Or, if it's a piece of crap, you can have fun shooting it down; I won't take offense. =P

I think scattershot, good trpas, and imp wing clip should be all you need. Counterattack though melee useful would require a hi parry rate (I know it's not in build but just saying.)

good effort but im not sure it will work.

You're making a couple of huge mistakes in your build.
First of all, no imp. concussive and/or imp wing clip?
Stunning people is the best way to get away from them.

Second, Combat experience and careful aim.
CE is never that good of a talent or worth picking and CA isnt good for pvp either because of the low int you have (and thus it giving small returns)

3rd, Clever traps is pretty useless, becausae freezing traps dont last longer then 10 seconds in pvp and entrapment is just a bad talent.....
(really, 25% chance at 4 seconds trapped on traps you hardly use with diminishing returns)

Effeciency is also rather useless because PvP matches tend to not last very long.

I'd go with something like this for arena pvp.

In 5v5 (if you can get your hunter into a decent 5v5 team) entrapment rocks against melees. Even in smaller fights, entrapment can work much better than a freezing trap because even when a huge-axe-swinging-tauren blows his trinket on the root, he's still slowed.

In certain situations, entrapment points can be better placed, but the same goes for imp concussive and wing clip. I prefer kiting a warrior around the yardage of a frost trap to freezing them and hoping their trinket has already been used.

Of course your choice of talents will work, but i'd be pretty afraid to have you in a 2v2 or 3v3 because if we are fighting casters or other hunters, you'd have nothing but survivability to cling to. In a 5v5, you COULD be very useful.
