If you could have you choice of *one* other class to level and quest with from 1-70, what would it be?

(BTW, I'm speaking as the non-shammy. I've never played one myself)

Grouping with a pure dps class makes sense in early levels but I'm not sure that would work so well past level 40 or so as that's about when a Shammy's ability to tank begins to fall behind. Same can be said for grouping with a healer class.

On the flip side, grouping with a pure tank would mean little CC and more-or-less being forced into a healing role.

I'm ignoring druid right now because (although they make an awesome pair) I've already done that one to death and want to try something else.

So, what are the pairings you've liked and/or hated?

you dont really need a buddy to quest with as any spec, maybe if your new to resto but your not a squishey holy priest, 2/3 of the time before i hit outlands i was questing alone and found it quite easy and enjoyable

but what ever floats your boat, questing with a buddy not only makes it easer but more fun =D

go with a class that can keep aggro off of you if your elemental or resto, go with a healer if you enhancement

If I had a choice of one class to pair with, I would probably say warrior. This is still true even if I go down the enhancement tree.

They are able to deal a good amount of damage while taking it. Goes well with shamans. Also warriors have a difficult time leveling, so them grouping with shamans goes to their advantage as well.

This is a good question. Being a fantastic hybrid class I don't think there is one class we couldn't gel with in a pairing, with a little thought and co-operation.

My personal favourites are casters (Mage/Priest/Lock)as they slot in easily with my Enhancement spec. If you are resto/elemental, I guess warriors/Pallies/Druids would be easier.

Rogues need the most care in my experience, they do get a bit upset when you break their fancy 'ninja moves'.

I normally find if the pairing establishes a few ground rules prior to questing then everything goes great. Any PUG that doesn't communicate is seriously hampered.

I would say a Pally... Cuz you both will benefit from each other. His blessings your totems, you both can heal in tight situations. When you doing instances the pally can tank and you can heal if it must be. Even end game you can make a nice 2v2 team :p... Both classes are allmost allways on demand.

Just my opinion btw. Enjoy

Well, having done exactly what you are talking about I'll give my choice:

And IRL friend and I first picked up World of Warcraft with every intention of playing together. I rolled an Orc Warlock, while he rolled an Orc Warrior. We leveled this way until around level 24ish. I then realized that while I (affliction) could solo much better than him. This was because his need of healing (health stones dont cut it sometimes ;D) This is when I rolled a Shammy.

Never, NEVER, did I look back. I quickly leveled my Shaman and caught up to him around level 25. We have been leveling together ever since. Me (enhancement) and my buddy (dw fury) have a blast. We burn down mobs at an alarming rate and if it gets sticky he just Defensive Stance > Taunt > Sunder, while I heal, Heal, HEAL! Haha.

Well, all that for this: I had a blast(and still do) leveling with a warrior partner. We had so much fun together. Whether it was me Ghost Wolfin' it through desolace at level 25 and watching him get torn apart (only to run back and rez him =D) or us exploring 'uncharted territory' by mountain climbing\swimming around every coast.

I say go Warrior\Shaman. I did. I never regret it.

I have a great time questing with my Hunter friend. I am enhance spec and his pet really deals the damage. We make a good team, but this also comes from knowing each other and the ability to anticipate what each other will do.
I do agree with the OP that being a great hybrid class, a shammy should gel well with any other class.

Due to being hybrids we match up well with any other class, it's just knowing how to synergize. It also depends on what you actually want to do.

For example I leveled my first Shammy with a RL friend who was leveling a hunter, it was an awesome combination we could take down large groups with ease (even groups of elites on occasion) with the pet tanking and me alternating between dps and healing (Enh specced).
The time it really rocked was in world PvP encounters though, seriously, try getting away from a hunter shammy combo. Aspect of the cheetah and ghost wolf, as soon as he was in range he'd pop a concussion shot then I'd catch up, frost shock and we'd proceed to tear them apart.

This same friend an I are currently leveling another combo together, this time he's the shammy and I'm a prot spec Pally (now 69 and 68 respectively). Yet another awesome combo (dual hybrid combos are always good though). In this case PvP is not so open shut but PvE grinding is just insane, massive pulls, AoE tanking with him alternating between DPS and throwing me the occasional heal. Totems + Blessings = WIN.
This combo is also very effective for instances, I tank (obviously) and even though he is enhancement he's a great player and tbh a better healer than a lot of specced healers I have played with recently. Of course if we do get another healer then he can break out the DPS :-).

My basic advice, team up with a mage/lock/hunter if it's a PvP server, or a war/druid/pally if it's a PvE server.
