So i've read all the post and know i need 490 def and 102.5% avoidance. I got the 490 def part and i'm coming up just shy of the 102.5. Any gear or geming advice would be great. I wanna tank some heroics but wanna be geared for it.

Well first off you need 102.4, not 102.5 it may not seem like a big difference but it is. A quick calculation shows you at 95.25, which is about 7% off. That's close but not "just shy". Anyway, just get some better trinkets like the Figurine of the Colossus in SH, and try to fill the percentages in where you can.

Almost all gems should be +stamina.

I'd like to back Jack up on saying your sockets should almost all be +stam, the blue Solid Star of Elune is the common one, and runs about 35 to 45g on my server. Your main problem after being uncrittable, and being uncrushable, will be health. 2.3 will help a bit for it, if you pick up the new talent, which I advise. But get those stam sockets in there, the bonus on the armor usually isn't good enough to lose that nice amount of stamina for. If you can't afford the +12's, I think there are +9's for a bit cheaper, and when 2.3 comes out, I believe there is a quest, maybe multiple, or hopefully repeatable for a +15 gem.

When I added up your avoidance, I got 85.25...which is a "bit" away.

I would recommend getting the Figurine of the Colossus from Shattered Halls as Jack did (32 block rating, and the use is heals you when you block, which is nice in pinches, and in aoe farming/tanking) I would also shoot for the blacksmith crafted BoE bracers -- Bracers of the Green Fortress. They give the same defense unenchanted as your current ones do enchanted, leaving room for a nice +12 stam enchant, they also have a nice bit more stamina (19), and 10 dodge rating to help with that avoidance. You could replace your boots with Flesh Beast's Metal Greaves, if you haven't done the quest that gives them as a reward out in Auchindoun. They have 3 more stamina, 18 more defense rating, and 28 dodge rating to also help towards your uncrushable status. The ring, Andormu's Tear, is from a quest out in CoT, and is great for avoidance. Sadly it doesn't have any stam, but in my mind if you are not uncrushable, and don't have it, it's worth it. It gives 10 defense rating, 26 dodge rating, and 15 shield block rating. Last piece I am going to let ya know about is Devilshark Cape which I believe is from Steamvaults. It gives 7 more stam than your current, same block value, and more 18 dodge rating. You lose a bit of defense, but if you get some of the gear I talk about here, then you should be fine losing the 6 rating from the cape.

Protector's Mark of the Redemption is a nice ring from a quest chain in SMV I believe, and is a nice replacement with some more defense, than your current one from the kara rep. It also adds some block value which doesn't help towards that 102.4 avoidance but isn't a bad freebie. That leaves room for you to take one of your +defense armor pieces away, and maybe add one with some avoidance, incase you happen to get a nice piece of avoidance gear, but end up under 490 defense.

I would also recommend getting some better/different enchants on your gear. As of the last patch, you can get 12 dodge rating on cloak for updated mats. I would also recommend 12 stamina on bracers, 20 spell damage to gloves, 12 stamina to boots, and when you get the money (if you don't already have it), the epic nethercleft leg armor on legs. Also, try and get your Scryer's rep up to exalted for the shoulder patch that gives a bit more defense, and some avoidance.

Edit 1 : Fixed some info
Edit 2 : WTB spell check :P

Thanks guys. I tried to get the devilshark cape last night and ended up running the heroic version of SV, which I was kinda afraid to do. We completed it without any CC at all. Ended up killing the last boss and getting the epic bracers off him. Now my goal is to run SH and SV to upgrade my trinket and back peice. I'll look into the chain quest for the ring. The only slot im having troubles with is the feet. I think I've done that quest in auchindoun. Thx for the advice and i'm putting it to good use.

Feet is hard, I still have a 70 "of the Champion" for my feet cause I couldn't find anything better. The best I've seen is getting a group to go to Heroic Mana tombs and try to get the boots that drop in there off the first boss. They are called the [wowitem=27813]Boots of the Colossus[/wowitem].

I got really lucky, those dropped my first time in there. A word of advice about heroic Tombs. If you plan on tanking it get yourself together a set of gear with impossibly high +Shadow resist. Even if it's all cloth/leather/mail. Pandemonius does no or little physical damage, it's all shadow and if you don't have the high resist you, and your group, are toast.

Can someone link me to the quest(s) that casper was talking about? I haven't run into any of them.
