Hloy priest in arena..Follow

#1 Nov 10 2007 at 7:12 AM Rating: Decent
Hi guys
I play a 70 holy priest, I have to admit that I have never done much pvp, but with the next patch giving you the possibility to buy s1 gear for honorpoints I thought I would give it a shot.
While I did fine" in wsg/ab/av I completly sucked in arena.
I joined a 3v3 with a warrior and a hunter.
Most of the time if not all of the time, the oposing teams dps would be on me. That didint come as a surprice. After 10 rounds or so i got kicked of the team, after i got the OMG NOOB! WHY DIDNT YOU HEAL??? And I tried to explain I did my best, but its kinda hard to heal with two ms warriors eating throug your sheild in 2 seconds, and they cant be feared.
After it was over I was asking myself what I could have done better ? I mean im was on the team to heal, and thats what I did/tried.
Is it just me that needs more practice, or do holy priests have a hard time in arena ?

What's your spec? 41+ into disc or 28/33 is what you should have, the first better in 2v2 and 3v3 and the latter in 5v5.

How much resilience and stamina do you have? 10k buffed health and lots of resilience are pretty much a requirement as a priest healer.

What spells were you trying to use? You're a priest, you have instant-casts and should use them. Martyrdom should mean you have enough time to get off a heal of two (Binding Heal if you're being hit) with no interruptions.

Arena takes some practice, but it is very fun!

keep in mind that it is the two other guys job to look out for you aswell. So dont be down =)

I only got 9k hp when buffed and i can take quite a beating =) As the dude above me said 28/33 is a very good build for arena. Crit immune is imba!

If you have a rogue and mage friend then start playing with them since that is a very good combination in 3v3.
In 2v2 a Warrior rogue or lock is good m8s. Alsoa hunter can be pretty good.
Except that there is not a whole lot to say. Ms warriors and enhancement shammies eat through our shields and heals pretty fast.

In 2v2 in the blades edge arena i go to the middle of the bridge and do mc and jumps him of the bridge. Its pretty effective.
In nagrand arena you can run around the pillars.
In the ruin arena you can stay out of line of sight in the altar in the middle. Its pretty good since most of our heals are instant.
Also remember to dispel alot! Dispel everything you can!

Against mages make sure to stand far away from them if possible so he cant cs you. Like this

Mage - your m8 - you

If it is a frost mage stay close to your friend at all time since he need to do frost nova all the time and that will break the sheep he use on you.
If his m8 is a healer do mana burn on the mage, not that healer! He runs out fast and then be rdy to fear when he evocate.

GL =)

i play 3 vs 3 with a shadow priest and warrior, im 41/20 specced, i only use instant cast an im constantly on the move using instant casts 99% of the time.
I stick close to a teammate. Walking around in Kara epics. we win more then 1/3 of the games about a 1400 rating, the other team mates are in blues only but were good friends having fun.
Sounds that team you were in wasnt any good anyway since fun must be nr 1.

When they "come right at me" i use pain supression, renew, wait till its almost over then trinket, fear and run. Run around casting shields(reflective), renews and PoM'strying to stay in a warriors deadzone. The SP mostly sticks with me for his fear. Im still not very good at it but getting better by the game.

Ok :)
Thanks for the replies guys, 28/33 is what I have.
maybe it just me that needs practice, but i also read a thread on the forum saying that priests needs more resilience than others or we are just meat for the dps classes.
Most of the time I was using renew, prayer of mending, and trying to sneak in a heal once in a while.
Well you have certainly cleared up some things.
Thanks alot :)

You aren't alone. I'm a pretty good healer, but arena isn't my cup of tea. They kill me right off the bat.

One of the first things you'll learn as a Priest in arena is you have a naturally occurring taunt.

Consider this a compliment, because you're a huge threat to the other teams success! ;)
