Spell Reflect FTW!Follow

The other day I got my orc warrior to 64, and when I went back to town I was happy to find out that there was a new ability waiting for me---Spell Reflect. I knew this was going to be a fun ability to have, but I had no idea. Shortly after I bought the talent, I was trying to do the PVP quest in Hellfire, and was just about to cap the stadium, when a level 70 gnome mage flew in and landed near me. He of course sheeped me, popped a few trinkets (or something flashy, not sure what all mages can do) and began charging up a pyroblast, just then I trinketed out of the poly, equipped a shield, drank a rage pot, and hit spell reflect. His pyro blast bounced off me and hit him for a ton of damage. I’m not sure if it was a glitch or not, but almost seemed like 2 blasts came from him and both reflected back. Anyway, after that he was down to 30% hp, so I intercepted, popped recklessness (just for fun), and ripped him a new one. Then capped the stadium, mounted and left the very confused and dead gnome ******* laying there.

Thought I’d share the story with you guys because I’ve been laughing ever since it happened…

I do have a question for you guys though. I’ve never really played around with macros, because I usually just hit buttons and haven’t really found a need for one, but I would have to have one to do what I said above:

Switch to battle stance
Equip 1-h & shield
Take rage pot
Cast spell reflect

Can anyone help me out with that? I’ve been messing around with it for some time now and can’t seem to get it to work. Also post other spell reflect stories, because I’m sure there are a ton out there just as funny. Thanks guys.

try this for your macro:

/cast Battle Stance
/equip Weapon (insert your weapon name there, correctly spelled with caps and punctuation if necessary)
/equip Shield (same rules as for weapon)
/use Name of Rage pot (Mighty rage potion, Rage potion etc.)
/cast Spell Reflection

you'd have to hammer the macro a few times to get all of that to fire, but it should work. rpzip could probably give you a more elegant way of writing this macro, but im not an elegant man (nor do i know how to write macros good).

yes, that english was purposely horrible.

#showtooltip Spell Reflection
/cast [equipped:Shields,nostance:3] Spell Reflection
/cast [stance:3] Battle Stance
/equip [noequipped:shields] The Unbreakable Will
/equip [noequipped:shields] Shield of Impenetrable Darkness

Replace the item names with your actual 1H/Shield combo. If you want it to blow a Rage Potion, alter it to;

#showtooltip Spell Reflection
/use Mighty Rage Potion
/cast [equipped:Shields,nostance:3] Spell Reflection
/cast [stance:3] Battle Stance
/equip [noequipped:shields] The Unbreakable Will
/equip [noequipped:shields] Shield of Impenetrable Darkness

By the way, he possibly did send two Pyroblasts at you.

"Presence of Mind
When activated, your next Mage spell with a casting time less than 10 sec becomes an instant cast spell."

Spell Reflect has this strange ability to reflect multiple spells, as long as they are all sent your way before the first one that will be reflected has been.

He fires off the first one, pops PoM (which is not on the global CD), and has just one second before he can fire the next one off instantly. Depending on range and the travel speed of pyroblast, he could have casted the second one before the first hit you, and then he gets both reflected back.

It was a fireblast that got reflected back with the pyro. With the way the reflect mechanics work, if he casts that pyro and then blows an instant cast damage spell (which Fireblast is), then it will reflect back the Fireblast, as WELL as the Pyro that originally trigger the reflect. It's common practice for mages to stack an instant cast right after a cast time like this for burst damage, and it's great for you if they're stupid enough to let you reflect two spells back in this fashion.

It was 2 Pyro's as long as the second spell is sent off before the first spell is landed then both spells will be reflected.

Thanks guys for the macro help. Either way it was funny as hell and that mage was probably pissed off. 64 Warrior > 70 Mage
