Hello Fellows, how r ya?

I'm new to the "rouge" class, and im creating one. I've readed some topics to help about the class and i'm stuck in this question now:

Is engineering good 2 rogues or not?

I discovered that we dont benefit from leatherworking (not as shammy / druid / hunters), and then i was thinking on been a engineer. That will be good or should i invest on other profession? I've got mining also to help engineering...

Thank you guyz!

IMO several of the professions can bring thing to the table that a rogue would want.

Leatherworking - Make your own armor, make some nice epic pieces for yourself when you reach the cap (Primal Strike set) and make the good armor kits.

Engineering - Lots of PvP goodies, goblin jumper cables, and the epic goggles that are comparable to raid drops.

Blacksmithing - not so much when it comes to making armor, but you can make some nice weapons, and one of the best maces if you choose that specialization.

Tailoring - Um....you can make....bags...?

Jewcrafting - Make rings, necklaces, trinkets that are useful along with cutting your own gems for sockets

Enchanting - Enchant your own gear and have the ability to disenchant those lousy selling quest rewards for something a bit more worthwhile on the AH.

Alchemy - Make potions. Everyone needs potions!

So, there are a lot of options out there for you. Choose what you think is going to make your game playing the most fun for you.

You might want to double check your english before posting here.

Anyways, I just gotta say I love Engineering. We're getting mounts on 2.3. You can actually have level 75 pets at 375 engineering which just sounds awesome. One of the really big downside to it is its "chance" effects. I havnt made a chance item yet, but they can be a bother from what Ive heard.

When it comes to gnome versus goblin, for me it comes down to the gnome death ray and the goblin rocket launcher.

It comes right down to your choice, rogues can put any of the tradeskills to good use as far as I know.

Hope this helps :D

I recommend against this. I am LW and just got screwed by it at lvl 350. Everything that levels me up requires Primal Shadows. They changed the drop rate, and instead of 4g a piece they're now 20g on my server. That's 160g in just shadows (excluding fel hides, heavy knothide) to make 1 pair of fel leather boots. Which by the way, I can't sell for anything over 40g.

Also, primalstrike sucks compared to drops/pvp gear, and costs way too much to make. The only good stuff in LW is the drums and the armor kits.

I'd go with anything but LW or Tailoring.

Sowwi bout my english, i'm from Brazil and i'm at work atm so i cant spend much time on the web xD

Anyway, since u're an engineer, lemme ask you something:

Does the command ability of Orcs raise the attack power of the pets that you create or just raise the attack power of hunters and warlocks pets?

lemme repeat.. coloring the fun factor in that

I also couldnt decide, I used herb/alch while leveling for the pots and buffs. I am currently 375 engineer / 360 Blacksmith. I love my goggles and have since started 2 alts which are both engineers.
The toys are fun, and some are even useful. I use grenades from time to time in BG's (NElf rogue with warstomp and AOE) or the occasional bad pull, and never forget the rocketboots for covering ground in a hurry.

Blacksmith was a pain to level up for just a mace IMO and I regret the whole process. Drakefist was great, dont get me wrong... But S2 Maces here I come.

Alchemy was good, but I found the discovery system annoying.

Tailor is a waste for a rogue

LW is probably more of a pain to level than blacksmithing. I dont think primalstrike is worth pulling out my hair on primal shadows.

enchanting can be used to make a few hundred gold in a pinch, but what most people dont realize is that the money is in the mats, not the skill. 300 enchanting is all you need to DE outland crap iirc so no need to try too hard to level it past that except maybe the ring enchants.

Personally never tried JC, some of the trinkets look kinda neat, but look more like novelty than useful.

As for gnome or goblin engineering, it boils down to chicken trinket or more bombs....I went gnome, would go goblin if I did it over

I might sound retarded for pointing this out, but...

And I don't know if you put the word in quotes on purpose or not, but it's "rogue," not "rouge," as there have been tons of flames in the past for people spelling the class like that.

As for the OP, I would say pick Engineering if you're up for the fancy, but many people pick 2 gathering professions (herbalism, mining, skinning) for the fact that they can sell many things that they pick up in order to make some quick cash. If you use up your own gatherings, you won't be making too much of a profit (lol, I'm BSing myself there...).
