A druid on the trade line last night was talking about how he got +7 weapon damage on his weapon. Trying to be helpful I told him that wouldn't work in forms and he should get some other upgrade instead. I was then told how clueless I was and he said he was Boomkin so it would work. Granted it would work in that form, but wouldn't some other upgrade be more useful. I thought if you were reduced to swinging your weapon as a druid, you were in trouble. Any thoughts, or am I just clueless?

Although i would never put a +damage in my weapon as a moonkin, it IS useful to swing your weapon sometimes. It adds mana regen and procs OoC (if you have the talent).

Indeed, mana regen for Moonkins, but a damage enchant is such a waste of mats... I saw a Mage or Lock just yesterday with a Staff of Jordan with the exact same enchant... +7 Damage on a caster weapon... right... O_o

Moonkin melee attacks have a chance to regenerate mana based on attack power. Weapon damage enchantments do not add to that. (The discussion is absurd because of course a moonkin benefits much more from a spell damage enchantment on his weapon, but even for melee mana regeneration it would be misguided.)

Incidentally, for some reason trinkets and ring enchantments providing weapon damage do work in feral (and moonkin) forms.
