Help with pve frost builds? :: Free Realms

Hello,

I'm doing some research on a post for my guild forums about mage specs, and while I've got the fire, arcane/fire, and arcane specs under control, I really know nothing about frost mages. I haven't been one since leve 30.

Anyways, as our guild steps into SSC and I try and persuade members away from kookie home-grown pve/pvp hybrid builds (no-one wants to give up their stupid pom/pyro!! ugh....), I would like to also present them with some frost alternatives.

So, any suggestions for totally viable SSC and on frost, frost/arcane PvE builds?

Here are the points I have invested in Frost. Keep in mind this is for raiding and therefore frostbite and shatter are left out on purpose.

5 - improved frostbolt
3 - elemental precision
5 - ice shards
3 - piercing ice
1 - cold snap
2 - improved blizzard (not important, helps for AOE attacks)
2 - artic reach
3 - frost channeling
1 - ice block
1 - improve cone of cold (the first point gives a better bonus than others, not important to have)
5 - winter's chill
1 - ice barrier
5 - artic winds
5 - empowered frostbolt (will be even better after 2.3)
1 - summon water elemental
I also have 18 points in arcane.

maybe not the best but it works for me. Can't wait for 2.3

This is my current build. I have shatter and such for trash as well as to help me farm. Permafrost is one of the things you have to give up for going 18 points into Arcane, so I chose to get almost all the goodies from frost while still getting the threat reduction and resistance from arcane.
