Are white cats common on your server?Follow

Cashara leveled to 60 with a pink tallstrider named Sweetpea. And as Sweetpea is the main reason I leveled that character I’ll never abandon that pet. But there are times when a pet with a bit more DPS comes in handy. I used a white warpstalker for a while, but as my NE already has a green warpstalker I just haven’t cared much for the white one. After much consideration I ended up taming a level 60 white kitty from Winterspring. It’ll take me a bit to lever her up to 70, but as I have a lot of rep grinding to do it shouldn’t be too bad.

I must admit that I’ve gotten spoiled by having a fairly unique pet in Sweetpea. So I started wondering just how common the pure white kitty really is. I don’t remember seeing many on my server, but to be honest I wasn’t really watching for them either. Has anyone noticed a lot of white cats on their server?

Most of the Winterspring cats I see on my server are either the purple pride watchers (which my Nuisance is one) or the rare blue tiger. I have only seen a few of the pure white cats... usually just my hubby's. He loves the stealth ability, although I'm not sure if that's the same one you're referring too.

Good luck with the leveling!

Yes, the kitty I tamed was a Frostsaber.

I wasn’t sure I’d like the color, as it’s a bit of a blinding white, but now that I’ve fought along side her for a while I find her quite beautiful. And the color fits well with Cashara’s panda cub and her tranquil mechanical yeti. *smiles*

She’s now level 61 and loyalty level four. I think the hard part is going to be coming up with a good name for her, something other than Snowball.

I see white cats all over my server. If you want something different without the pain of leveling there are the black 70-73 cats in Skettis. I would never give up Galore, she has been with me since the Winterspring days and I love the way she looks by my side.

The only one that I see a lot of is king B and echeyakee, every now and then a frostsaber pride watcher that growls every time it yawns, I dont really pay that much attention unless the pet is out of the norm.

I considered taming a bright red Springpaw Stalker from the blood elf starting area. I love how they look. My level 67 blood elf hunter has one that he leveled up with name Sunspark.

But that would have meant leveling my pet up from level 7 to level 70. I don’t think I’m ready for that much of a challenge.

I myself have a white cat at 70 and I do see them around, but I got mine from HankBane, but I guess thats not an option anymore.

Some say he was removed from the game, others say he's just an Incredibly rare spawn now. not sure which is right.

I'm starting to see a lot more of those big, chunky T-rexy raptors (from BEM I think). Even before they could Dash, I saw a fair number of them. Now that they can Dash, I'm seeing even more. W/ BW they get really HUUUGE. The tamed model seems to me to be bigger than other pets (or being bipedal, are they just taller?). Who knows.

Hi Cala - good to see you back - haven't seen you here in a while.

I love my pure white cat, and I see them here and there. I think one of the biggest lures of the cat is the fact that it matches one of the nightelf mounts. I can't tell if I've seen a decline in the cat since the mount change, but I've come to terms with losing my cat when I mount up, because it at least kinda looks like I'm riding my pet, lol.

I haven't seen the PURE white cat on my server, usually one of any varying stripes or spots. Horde seem to llove the bengaled tigers the most. I have the ghost saber.

There are a few pure white ones on my server, but very few, Humar is Plentiful, though Echeyachee is rare as all get out. Only seen a couple of ghost sabers, and even then only on the Hunters I met in my 20's and showed them the pet.

Is there a pet census anywhere? It would be interesting to see not only which are the most/least popular pet classes, but also which species within that class.

The white cat from winterspring is to date, the only pet I really wish i hadn't abandoned. Black armored pig, ehh, King B, ehh, My scorpid for 22 levels, ehh. But the white cat I had for 4 levels, I really wish had kept with me.

Nope, on my server, only a few hunters have a white cat. I'd say about 60% of hunters on my server have Blackwind Sabers, as do i. I'm just too lazy to train a level 60 white cat.

Very, well, sort of, roughly 33.3% of people have it, except these have stripes, but you can hardly see the stripes so they look pure white, the others are Boars and Bears.

Oh, by the way, on my level 30 hunter, any idea what pet I should have? I have a weird flying lightning thing at the moment, but never really liked it, even though i'm alliance i've gotten into Thunderbluff before, so I can probaly get to a few Horde places, any ideas?
#17 Nov 09 2007 at 4:39 AM Rating: Decent
It varies from server to server. On my Horde server I see them all over the place. On my Alliance server I haven't seen a single one of them on a 70 Hunter. Pre-TBC they were plentiful on both servers, but now they have been replaced with either starting-area pets or Outland pets.

Only seen one other Humar on my server though, on Alliance side. Horde Hunters seem to tame nothing but Humar.

I'm sick to death of Winterspring cats, all cats for that matter. They are so cliche. Most huntards seem to think that as long as they have a cat for a pet, they are awesome and Drizzt-like. I love cats in real life, but in WoW, I never use one. It seems like every Alliance hunter on my server has a white one. Horde seem to be 50% Humar and 50% something totally random. I used to want Humar, but then I saw ten hunters in Org near the AH with him and he didn't seem so special anymore.

There seems to be a pretty good mix of pets on my server with boars being the most common among the leveling hunters. Most of the 70 hunters usually have a cat, ravager, or scorpid. I have a springpaw lynx from the BE starting area. It looks pretty cool standing next to my Female Troll Hunter.

Duh.... Blizzard =P

And i dont see a lot of pure white cats around.
My problem with it however is that over 50% of all hunters have a cat.
So no matter what cat you use, its never all that original....

And Ravagers. And Boars. Scorpids. Gee, I don't think there are all that many pets left that are original among the DPS/Soloing pets.

Pink Tallstriders are pretty much all that's left besides the odd Warpstalker and Serpent.

I thing I might be the only one on my server who has the rare Gorilla from Un'goro. I know his abilities sucks, and that he is slow, but god damn is he a big **** :P. . . I'm atm leveling him (doing daylies), so it might take i while for him to reach lvl 70, but anyway - he has a lot of flash value :P

And that my friends had nothing to do with cats what so ever :D

I'd say out of all hunters, 50% has a cat, 25% a boar, 15% a ravager (mainly high level hunters) and 10% some random other pet.

Thus why i have an uncommon Carrion Bird ;) And its something you get compliments on too (as well as hate from tanks in instances because its so freaking large)

I was using a snow owl when BC came out, before trading up for an Avian Warhawk. The pure white isn't bad at all.

Cats aren't THAT popular anymore. Although, with scorpids being less useful now, I dunno. I don't see that many ravagers, though, and I think it's probably more than 25% boar. I'm still using the owl, personally.

Thanks. Much appreciated. I’m still playing my hunters. I just got stuck in the general forums for some reason.

Woot! Go Sweetpea!

I want to thank everyone for their input. But after leveling my white kitty from 60 to 63 I finally decided it just wasn’t the right pet for my female dwarf. So I released her back into the wild.

Cashara did have a white warpstalker before the kitty, but I just couldn’t really get into that pet either. My NE has a green warpstalker named Gleep. And I love that pet. I much prefer the green to the white stalkers. And finding the right name makes a big difference to me. That’s when inspiration stuck. When I climbed back off the floor and bandaged my head, I knew exactly what the right pet was.

Cashara is now the proud companion of a green warpstalker named Growf. For any of you old D&D players, Growf was the little dragon from the comic strip that ran for many years in Dragon magazine. (http://www.studiofoglio.com/growf.html)

Growf is now level 69 and loyalty level six. When he hits level 70 I’ll bring my pink bird of death back out and finish leveling her to 70 as well. This will give me a fun pet to hunt with and another fun pet for those times when I need a bit more DPS.

I couldn't tell you how many black cats I've seen named Guenhwyvar.
