Attack Order/Binding HelpFollow

I am hoping you more experience types can offer me some advice - especially considering some of you have done the calculations for damage with specific weapons using specific finishers.

I'm aiming for a Mutilate rogue and, while low now, am trying to bind my keys so when I get there I am familiar with it. I do a good amount of PVP - which is why I love the mouse bindings Eon wrote about.

Right now my method of attack is basically:

Stealth up with my main dagger and use Ambush (MM Click while stealthed, for me - I mention this because its what my question is about, the sets I have right now bound), then I usually switch to my sword and MM+Up for SS. giving me 2CP, then generally MM-Down for Ev. for the finisher. On my Ctrl MM buttons I have for Ctrl + MM Click Kick, Ctrl + MM Up is Gouge and Ctrl + MM Down is Slice and Dice.

I don't know numbers and such or calculations (I know with Ambush I do a ton of opening damage, but that's about it) so what I am wondering is for a Rogue On His Own (most of the time) should I switch S&D to maybe Rupture or Expose Armor? Would those be better alternative finishers? Or should I maybe use one of those as my primary MM Click finisher?

I figure when I get to later levels and have Mutilate it will be my opener, or possibly I will do a simple macro to gouge and then mutilate. But that's later, I realize that I will be completely switching this setup so that I can keep my enemy stunlocked while poison-poison-poison-mutilate-finisher. Its the trip there that I need help on - am I using the right finisher, basically?

So much to say, I don't have the time/courage. But I guess that a little bit is better than nothing, so here you go:

Map the keys as you like it, it's very personal. Eon's post gives you enough info so that you can do it yourself. Just be smart, put the actions that requires speed on the mouse so that you can keep moving with your keyboards at the same time.

Switching as you do to open with Ambush is a valid option until you get CS, then you can forget it. Not worth spending too much time on thus.

I don't think what you described as attack sequence is very good. Just adjust to the situation. When you're muti, you can stun-lock the mob to take little damage (CS-Muti-KS-Muti-Muti, etc.) and if you're Combat Swords I'd say open with CS or Garrote, hit SnD immediately, then SS untill your Evisc will probably finish the mob off.

I don't use Rupture or EA on trash.

On bosses, just have SnD and Rupture up at all times and use SS to generate CPs and you'll do fine. Remember that Evisc is the worst finisher in terms of raw damage so don't use it in the middle of long fights (if you can have SnD and Rupture up, that's good ... IF you have both up, then sure you can throw an Evish... but that shouldn't happen, unless maybe while under AR).

And NO, later on Muti WON'T be your opener. Openers are attacks that require stealth and you usually go for CS (when soloing) or Garrote when in a group (be aware that stun-locking the mob in a group is a bad idea since the tank usually needs to take hits to generate the needed rage).

And forget about your Gouge-Muti macro. Gouge is just used if you @#%^ up and wants to muti in the middle of a fight or to bandage/flee, etc. And to interrupt spells of course. And to restealth in pvp, but that's another story.

Hope this helps.

Ok, since you ask so many questions about key mapping, I'll give you some insight on how I do it.

A link to your armory would be helpful.

Armory link is also in my sig, but its here:

So Rupture and SnD are not good for trash mobs, that's good to know. Like I said I'm still low level, so more than anything I was wondering if there's a better finisher to use at low levels than Ev.

Read, carefuly, that's not what I said.

I said, as far is trash is concerned:
- with a Muti build, I recommend: CS-Muti-KS-Muti-Muti
- witha Combat build, I recommend: CS or Garrote-SnD-(as many SS as required to finish off the mobs with...)-Evisc.

Gotcha, noostra. Right now I don't have what I need so I will probably stick to the Ambush method until I do have CS and Muti and KS. For the moment I guess it would be (at level 23), something like your combat order:

Ambush + SnD + SS (# required) + Ev? Almost the exact same thing, basically, since I lack CS, Muti and KS right now.

Then when I do have CS, KS and Muti my combat order will change to reflect that.
