ready for kara?Follow

#1 Nov 07 2007 at 11:51 PM Rating: Decent
well i'm quite new to wow and have recently reached level 70 on my first character; a warrior. Just wondering what everyone thinks i can improve on to get geared for kara. A guild mate said i needed around 17-18k armour to tank kara but i find that very hard to believe.

For the most part you seem easily well geared enough for most of Kara (I personally don't know how well geared you should be for Prince and Nightbane as my warrior just hit 70 as well).

Your spec, though, kind'a gets me. It's like you want to do prot-DPS, which just doesn't work well at all. By and large, UW isn't all that useful for tanking due to the fact that you should be getting hit hard enough already to maintain an adequate amount of rage. Imp. rend is entirely useless, as the ability itself does such a miniscule amount of damage that it's not worth it to even use while tanking 99% of the time (I think the last time I used it while tanking was in VC...). Overpower requires battle stance, so imp. OP is automatically out. Deep wounds and impale, while nice, aren't really worth it for the other things you could be getting for the points. Improved taunt also isn't all that great in Kara, due to the fact that you and your DPS should have a threat meter and thus be able to see how close they are to pulling aggro from you and slow down accordingly.

Places that you could spend those 14 points (rend, OP, deep wounds/impale and UW) are:
-Finish out 1h weapon spec, as this effects how much damage your slam will do, and thus corresponds directly into more threat.
-Vitality, more HP and more threat from the strength (as well as a little more mitigation from the blocking aspect of strength, though it's not all that much)
-Shield Mastery: More mitigation's always nice (don't tell this to my brother, though... he hates that talent :P)
-Devestate. Since you now have that many points in prot, get it.
-2/5 (or 5/5 if you have a warlock to put on CoRecklessness and the melee DPS to justify the loss in caster damage) imp. Demo shout, as this will basically kill all of the bosses AP (I think they have 300?).

Other than that I can't really think of anything off-hand.

Oh, and also you messed up on the link to your armoury. :P

Kara requirements are something along

Hp 11.5k-12k
Armor 13k (*edited)
Avoidance (parry and dodge combined) 30-35%
Def rating 490
And the normal hitrating percentage (forgot it but thinks its around 5,6%?

Anyway, you could easily upgrade your stats by getting some enchants. The 12 dodge rating on your cloak is very nice because it gives around 0.6% dodge and isnt very expensive.
Furthermore i see you are almost revered with KoT. Try doing one more BM run and get the head enchant (roughly around 90g) which gives you def rating and dodge (i think its dodge).

Now that you have a lot of def rating you could put less points in anticipation and get them to stance mastery by example (hm, only choice you have actually:))

And I agree with Taeraq. This build is nice for solo-ing the afternoon, and a 5 man in the evening. But it will definately give you problems in kara. Be aware that speccing for kara will diminish your chance in being able to solo. Try to group up with a hybrid class. At least thats what i do.

Furthermore i have to agree with the brother of taeraq :P. Atm i got several pre-kara epics (although i have to admit I only got 53 block value rating) and when i block (without the talent that is) i block around 300 (on a hit of around 3k i think.) Expanding that with 30% makes my block 390.
90 Damage mitigation (per block thats true) is not something i would go for. You can better spend those 3 talent points elsewhere. For instance in imp shieldwall for instance which is very handy when you are fighting against an enraged Moroes.
