I just finished installing TBC! Yay yay yay! I only got to ***** around for an hour before work, but WOW it's a really nice change of pace! Never before (at least not since mega low levels) has 3 quests gotten me half a level! And the gear! I already upgraded 3 items (granted my gear was total ***** anyway thanks to speed leveling) and I am all twitterpated with the new shinies.

I know this has nothing to do with being a hunter but boy I like this new xpac so far!

Heh, get used to seeing your power jump in leaps and strides until you hit a brick wall and start doing it piecemeal :P

Grats! You get TBC right when I go guildless >.<

Yeah, my hunter just made it to Outland and I'm loving the upgraded gear. So fast and furious. Just did some quests in this really terribly annoying orc village called Zeth'gor.

First I did the two initial quests. The first was to get 12 blood from the orcs then put them into a cauldron which makes a swarm of insects appear. This wasn't that bad, just run onto the hill immediately next to the cauldron and you won't draw aggro and they despawn in 5-10 seconds. The second was to kill some huntmaster dude with his two wolves, which wasn't bad at all. Then I had a quest to capture some eye that aggros nearby enemies. This one sucked because when you have the eye captured, it shoots a bolt at any nearby enemies pulling them onto you.

So after doing these prereqs, I got two quests with useable rewards.

First involved burning down four buildings. Sounds easy, but in practice was stifingly difficult. You get unlit torches from peons. Easy enough. Then you light the torches at the forge, they last 5 minutes, and use them to burn down the buildings. First building is right next to the forge. Very simple. Second is a decent pace away, but still isn't difficult. Third and fourth are on the other side of the camp, and I found it impossible to make it in time with conventional methods. What I did was dismiss my pet, mount up, ride to the building (getting about 10 - 15 mobs on me), burning it down, and dying in a safe spot. Then I'd rez at Spinebreaker Ridge, run back, rez, bandage, mount up, and burn down the last building. On my warrior, I died on this last part. On my hunter, I feigned and miraculously it wasn't resisted.

Second I had to kill this elite. I had a guy I pulled out of general chat helping me. We had to kill at least 20 mobs to make it to the elite, often 6 or more at one time. Got hairy a couple times, but we did it.

In the process, I got a very good set of blue leather leggings I'm gonna sell for a nice chunk of change, a good set of shoulders (of the Bandit ftw), a nice new cloak, and a nice new chestpiece.

I also did some research into the first couple Outland instances for gear drops and have decided on at least a few of these pieces:

Congratz on getting TBC. Wait until you get to 70 and then the fun really starts ( kinda ). Good luck on your journey through 60-70.

So I'm told. My guild made fun of me being in awe of my surroundings. I really do like it soo much more.

Grats, was typing out a 10 page reply to your one sentance, but figured I had better not >.<

Hmmph. Am I the only one here who actually enjoy the Azeroth landscapes more than the Outland ones? I never really found Outlands to be so wonderful. Sure, Zangarmarsh and Netherstorm both blew my mind when I first ventured in there, but the Azeroth zones have always stood out to me as far better in design when it comes to that "I wonder what's over that hill" feeling.

When I got time on my hands other than daily quests and instances, I prefer heading to Kalimdor and just go back to re-exploring the wonderful areas there. I feel Outlands took away that whole Exploration feeling. Too easy to get around everywhere, and no real surprises hidden anywhere. Nowhere is impossible to get to, due to flying mounts and no "forbidden" areas to find.

Besides, Outlands introduced the one single zone in the game I just hated questing in, due to lack of a cool atmosphere. Shadowmoon Valley. After a while, I just stopped. No fun at all down there, except for a couple of questfinishers like when you stop the summoning of an Old One. No Azeroth zone ever repulsed me like that, because every zone back there really felt like you were making a difference. The enemies, the quests and the general feel of the areas.

Oh, and the Exploration. I found three different ways to get inside Mount Hyjal without watching vids of how to do it. The last two after they ruined Wallwalking (Curse you Blizzard). I could run in a semi-straight line from Ironforge to Stormwind, jump down through a hole in the world and land in the chamber at the top of the Mage's Tower. I killed Sewer Beast from beneath the world, and tracked Onyxia in Burning Steppes and SW both.

Azeroth had all the real fun, and still have all the real fun exploration areas. Outlands is just there for Gear and Raids for me.

I too like the Azeroth Landscapes, but you got to admit- they did alot better job on the Skies in Outlands than in Azeroth.

Of course. When the land fails to provoke interest, the skies will have to do. I mostly just enjoyed the Hellfire Peninsula sky when I first got there. After that, the skies mostly just got boring. I do enjoy flying around in Blade's Edge a bit though. They did a good job with the ambience and the Dragonkiller feel.

Too bad they ruined it with a bad Starship Troopers pun and poor daily quests.

Toshley's Station? Rico? Ironside? Did you ever see the movie? I caught that reference the almost before I rode in there the first time, seeing Rico deal with Ravagers (Bugs).

I have seen the movie, but I thought the Toshley's Station and the quest reward "Power Converter" was a referend to Star Wars

Congo-ratz on BC! Have a rate up!

Yeah, the daily quests are ... odd. Ogrila? I laughed, but ... man is it a weird, weird place. And daily quests are odd. I get 12g for playing Simon every day? I take the money, but I feel weird doing it. Does seem right - in terms of "tone."

They need to have a young Gnome named Puke Skyscraper, who lives in a pit in the ground with his farmer Aunt and Uncle (and they drink blue milkshakes) - and you have to help Puke on a quest - and there's this Dwarf named Oldy Ben Dover or something ---- and ------- yeah, I never got to play SWG....

... I just watched SW A New Hope, and wondered why they were drinking blue milkshake out of Tupperware.
Also, Caldone: Yes, it is a Star Wars reference, but I think it's mostly because that is the only place they could stick the Star Wars joke. The rest of the place is Starship Troopers through and through.

Now that you have pointed it out I would have to agree with you, though I hardly quested there so I know it, but not very well

Be happy/disappointed about that.

In good respects SWG was more complex than WoW, you could build furniture out of mob trash drops, own houses/ buisnesses, have sick custom space ships, and be in starwars.

The bad aspects where, it was like being thrown into a white water river and not knowing how to swim. You either struggle and eventually learn how to do it, or you give up and die(die= find a new mmorpg)

You never played Eve Online, did you? SWG had a learning curve that seemed suitable for five year olds in comparison. I just think of the time they didn't have the tutorial and shudder.

No kidding, Eve online was a pain in the *** to learn, and if you left it for a couple of days you forgot and had to try to rmember what to do :S
#21 Nov 09 2007 at 11:07 PM Rating: Decent
Ah well. After those first five days getting the basics together, the rest came intuitively. You knew how most things worked and could work out the rest yourself. To me, Eve is now the "relaxing" game. Log on, maneuver my giant Hulk into an asteroid belt, unleash my army of Drones to deal with any pirates while locking on to whichever five Asteroids my scanners reveal to have the highest unitcount. Once every three minutes, I alt-tab back in and move all the ore into a container I have floating next to me. After about half an hour I head back to the station to pick up my Mammoth Industrial Ship and head back out to pick up several millions worth of Ore in one fell swoop.

It is a perfect game for work!

Just to give a reply to the "we love the old zones better" message . . . . I aggre :P. I have allways like the old zones the most. (this might sound childish, but just to put it in WoW terms) Ofc I waz like ZOMG Thatz iz just like WTF niace! When I first ventured thru the dark portal and into Outland, but after a week or so, I got soooo tirred of the artwork (like all other players I know (or close to. . .)). I now only use my hunter for raiding, and that is a shame - but I just can't stand running around in outland no more - I WANT THE OLD STUFF BACK :|. The same goes for instances. What did Blizz think when they designed f.ex. rampart, blood furnance - they suck. There's not a single instance in outland that matches instances like, Lbrs, Ubrs, Strat, scolo (the list goes on), or at least that is what I think.

I have now put all my love into my paladin (for a sec I actually thought of making myself another hunter on another server :P), and he is now getting close to the outland level (now lvl 56), but I won't take him to outland before I've done and completed the old part of the game (not including the 40 man raids - not that I don't want to, but it's just not possible to do BWL with a pug, and there no chance on earth to get a guild running with ther purpose of raiding the old places, when it's possible to get lvl 61 greens that owns tier 1).

I'm sorry for getting all sentimental - I just so miss the old contest.

WALL OF TEXT CRITTS YOU FOR 10000000 (I know, and sorry :P)

I did also enjoy most Azeroth zones more then the outlands zones (wth the extreme exeption of the plaguelands, god that place is boring.)
But rejoice! WotLK promises really supersweetawesomecool landscapes with a cool "european fantasy" style to it. (you know dragons, vikings, evil knights and such)

I am in agreement with ya'll. I stepped into Hellfire Penn and it reminded me too much of the barrens. Zan though, that's pretty. Like I said though, I've noticed the two times I've gotten ganked since I started outland... I was looking at the stars.... I'm terrible...

I feel almost the complete opposite. I love how in HFP there are so many different places to quest, so much more quests, and just an all around atmosphere of awesomeness.

Contrast that to Desolace, which I hate with a passion reserved for gnomes and mimes.

I do like Eastern Plaguelands a lot, but I hate Silithus. Winterspring is just boring.

Shadowmoon Valley is probably my least favorite Outland area, but I still like it way more than I like Dustwallow Marsh, Swamp of Sorrows, Badlands, etc.
