I currently rolled a Tauren Shaman, my fried says Tauren Shamans aren't good at anything and that instead, I should roll a Orc Shaman. What should I do?

***** slap your friend. I'm a lock/rogue, and havent rally tried shaman that much but i know as a rogue they are a ***** to fight in a duel if they are tauren, u will have less mana but more health and WARSTOP . that 2 second stun can really make a differnce on a battle (enough time to pop ghost wolf if talented to 1 sec, or maybe get a heal off). Never the less om my server tauren is the prefred class for shaman because of warstomp. Orc isnt too bad cuz of axe skill and bloofury, and troll is decet cuz of increased regeneration and i guess berzerking. but warstop is a stun!

Play whatever race you like the looks of best. The racial traits are nice and some races might be slightly better in PVE or PVP because of them but all races that can play Shaman are viable.

It's your character so don't let other people try to decide what race and class you play. If your friend likes Orc Shaman so much then let him play one.

Taurens can pick flowers like noone else!
(Good if you become an alch/herb)

But seriously, Warstomp is so damned great.
You are being beaten upon by too many enemies?
Drop a stoneskin totem, warstomp, run and drop an earthbind totem.

That lil combo will save you more times than you would think.

I guess later on in the higher levels, the added mana won't matter because I can just get it with +Int enchants/armor. Plus you guys have some good points involving War StompI'm going with a Tauren :P

I'd say if your going to be Enhance, or are going to PvP alot make a Tauren or and Orc. But if your going to be Resto or Ele go for a Troll since their racial will decrease your cast time a bit. Im Resto right now, and going to be for awhile, and now I wish I had rolled a Troll, since I dont PvP much.

Doesnt matter a whole lot, just if the looks dont matter much to you pick something better for what youre going to be doing.

The Warstomp ability is a bonus for any class of Tauren, but the Bloodfury of the Orcs does combine nicely with Shamanistic Rage. They also have similar cooldowns.
I pop both just before a boss fight that might drag on for a bit, that way I often end up with more mana than I started with. That is always useful for a bit of after scrap healing.

To be REALLY nit picky regarding races, I might argue that;

Troll's are better for "Caster" type shaman (Namely Elem.), due to possible rapid fire LB's via racial haste, and slightly higher INT than Orc or Tau.

Orc are better for PvE, due to higher possible dmg potential due to racial, and axe proficiancy doens't hurt either!

Tauran are better for PvP, due to AoE stun and slightly higher HP.

I use the term "better" loosely, as neither racial really makes or brakes the classes effectiveness. I play a 70 Tauran sham myself. My GF has a Orc Shaman alt, and I have a alt Troll Shaman on a seperate server, of I've toyed around with each race for a shaman class. Frankly, I tend to forget to use my racials typically, and don't really feel like I'm "missing" them when lvling or farming :p In PvP, War Stomp is nice in a pinch, but concidering that it blows a Global CD, and it does have a cast (.5 sec), it doesn't make it a completely full proof "OS" move, but it has its moments. Basically it gives you a "possible" 2 seconds to do "something" (not 3 secs like the tooltip says, since the GCD took 1 sec away, which tends to be just enough time to take a few steps away from your target, or enough time to get off 1 LHW.

Either way, frankly it comes down to look I think, more so that racial traits. Gear offsets any stat difference the races might have in comparison, so IMPO it really doesn't matter!
