When you read this, remember that I am levelling, and do not have hammer of wrath yet (although this could be used if it's on CD). Also know I am judging the community's knowledge as a whole based on the sticky, so if its common knowledge but it's not mentioned there I'm sorry I'm repeating it.
First, sometimes in a fight I find myself with judgement on CD, the target at like 1-3% health, and I have to wait a full 3.x seconds to kill him. Sometimes I just pop SotC and I can get that swing in a second faster.
Second, I find SotC great for levelling weapon skills.

Oh yeah definately on both of those. It's cool when you can find alternate uses for spells which may or may not be common sense.
I actually found the perfect mob to grind my Weapon Skills on in OL. The tree mobs walking around near Auchindoun. They heal themselves after a certain percentage and don't have any mana. So as long as you don't have a weapon that hurts too bad, I found that Devo Aura + BoK + JoL meant that I never had to heal myself, and I was never going to kill the mob. I basically was able to set that up and go watch TV for half an hour.

Nide idea. Sounds like it'd work even better than the crap that spawns outside SL.
i use SotC when needed to straight dps as a prot pally. i switch to my ret gear and dish out about 300dps(this might change when we get to dps in our healing gear). its also fantastic for tanking magic resistant bosses like the 1st boss in reg Mech.
