Level 60 AV twinkFollow

#1 Nov 07 2007 at 8:57 AM Rating: Decent
At this moment I have a level 49 Tauren druid that I love taking out into the BGs. At this point I thought that it might be nice to epic him out at 60 with all the best PvP rewards. I know, I know, go to outlands and get better equipment questing....I have a level 70 mage that I use for that kinda thing.

My point is that I want to melt faces in AV, and after some research this is what I have found. If I ONLY use PvP rewards from BG, it would cost 113730 Honor, 80 WSG marks, 140 AB marks, and 165 AV marks. This includes getting the PvP mount.

Now since you can only have 99 marks, and honor is capped at 75000 (I think...) my plan is as follows....

1. At level 49 get 99 AB marks and use 40 marks and 7395 Honor to buy 2 items then get my marks back up to 99.
2. At level 49 get 80 WSG marks and save them (As a druid I should have done this at level 39 ><)
3. Ding to 50 and start running AV but only on AV weekends. Inbetween weekends grind my way up to 59 (No real hurry here, I figure if I go nuts on AV weekend I can get 25k honor each weekend)
4. After / during AV weekends spend my honor from the previous day on items that need AV marks. Since I will be doing AV for honor I need to spend those marks first to make room for more.
5. If I hit 59 before I have all the honor and AV marks that I need (lets be honest, 99% probability this will happen) then buy my PvP epic mount (no honor cost) run BG weekends till I get back up to 99 marks (On OFTS weekend run AV) spending honor on items that I have the most marks for (To make room for other marks).
6. Once I have all my items that need WSG and AB marks, level to 60 and fill in my remaining items that need AV marks (Most noteably 30600 honor and 40 AV marks weapon).

Any thoughts on my plan? Ways that I can speed the process up? I know that I could grind like crazy at 59, but I would like to have some PvE between my BG's just so I don't get burnt out on BG's.

Well naturally you will have to have some PvE or else you won't level.
Sounds good apart from the fact that you need 51 to enter AV.

Well, I will not reply to the plan in itself, everyone enjoys his/her own way of playing (and I have had a fully twinked hunter alt at 59 (so that i could top the other BG's too) with mostly outlands gear for ages). But to be honest: you should compare the PVP epics for level 60 to some of the Outlands greens and blues in stats to save you honor grinding time where the outlands stuff would still come out better anyway.

The reason for my remark is that most of the PVP epics for druids at level 60 were, in my opinion, only geared for the Druid spec "jack of all trades". As you seem to to want to "melt faces" (or the druid equivalent thereof (what is that? shred them to pieces?) I assume you do not want to be a resto healer in AV. That leaves either moonkin or feral kitty / bear tanking AV. I you take a good look into that old level 60 epic pvp gear you get with each piece moderate amounts of ALL stats, enabling you to be an overall versatile druid.

I am not saying that a fully epic level 60 pvp decked druid would not be a lot of fun to play in AV, but if you want to excel in either moonkin or dps, the very specific gear of outlands will in some cases outperform for certain roles.

Let me give an example that illustrates: The PVP weapons do not contain itemisation for a feral druid. The PVP high warlord two handeds give around 26 str, 40 sta and crit rating +14 (= approx 1%). The (even for a level 59/60) easily to obtain drop from the chest behind the last boss in Hellfire ramparts staff Ursol's claw gives +28 str, 26 agi, 27 sta AND 190 Attack power. That staff beats the PVP epic weapons for a lev 60 by a huge margin of around 230-240 AP, (counting both both the AP from the extra +8 str and 26 AGI). Crit rate at level 60, 20 agi = 1% crit, so the 26 agi gives even little more crit than the pure crit rate of the high warlord weapon, the agi as a bonus also adds about 50 armor.

Obviously simply running hellfire ramparts one or twice as a level 58/59 and getting this weapon will help you level faster AND save you tons of time in grinding honor to get a lesser PVP High Warlord weapon. To a lesser extent the same applies to moonkins (the PVP epics weapons with spell damage come out a lot better against the early outlands gear but still the outlands staffs with +damage are faster to get and comparable in stats).

And consider the time investment in getting the epic PVP armor pieces and look and the stats therefo versus buying at AH various pieces of either vengeance or dreghood (fill in armor piece like "boots"_ of the "beast"or of the Bandit. Example: take the warlord / marshall epic lev 60 shoulders: 14 str, 14 agi, 13 sta, 11 int and 11 spi and +`18 damage/healing on spells. Ok overall stats. then take the GREEN dreghood pauldrons either of the beast or bandit. Beast = 16 str, 16 agi, 24 sta. Bandit is 16 agi ,24 sta and 32 AP (given the str conversion rate into AP the beast one is more suited).

This means that easy shopping on your way to level 60 can get you specialised gear for a feral druid with AP / crit equivalents or better of the epic PVP.

My advice? Mix some purchased outlands greenies, some quested outlands greenis/blues with the overall epic PVP pieces to max AP / crit stats while letting the few epic PVP items you need to get the mimimum set bonus boost int/spi and plus healing stats a bit. You will be better of and save yourself numerous weekends honor grinding and still be king of AV at level 60.

Oooh one last tip, watch out getting the good quest blues for a level 59/60 in outlands hellifre peninsula, the xp might be so fast that it will push you over the level 60 in no time......

I know what you mean about the Hellfire quest rewards....When I hit 58 I plan to quest there untill I get to one kill from 60. On my mage that took me 3 hours.....(Rested XP). I am thinking that its more of a trophy for me, something to do when I am not raiding on my mage. (Also, its therapudic for me to sneak up and kick the snot out of those pesky warlocks that my mage has so much trouble with)
