Tanking KarazhanFollow

So there I was, looking forward to gearing my warrior up to be THE DPS warrior in my guild for KArazhan and beyond, when BAM!!! it happened.

The main tank for our second Karazhan group decides our 3-day a week raiding schedule is too much for him and bolts back to his old guild.

So guess who gets drafted to fill his spot? Yeah, me. The person who hasn't seriously tanked since UBRS.

So anyway I already had a half-assed tanking set and I just needed a litte more defense to get to uncrittable status.

All I'm looking for is some advice now. I know my bracers and boots need to be replaced and I know I need either The Sun-Eater (not revered with Shat'ar yet) or the epic tanking axe from Thrallmar Exalted.

Other than that is there anything you see that is in desparate need of an upgrade?

Any problems with my build for tanking Karazhan and maybe some heroics?

A few nice pieces that I can think of off-hand would be as follows:

-The ring that the first boss in Durnholde drops
-The bracers from a quest in Shadow labs (you have to find a spy, then get the soul devices)
-Grom'tor's charge (quest line in SMV that starts from Earthmother... something. It's decently long, but worth it
-The belt from the Arcatraz keying quest
-Either the tailoring cloak (can't remember the name off-hand), the one from SV or the one from BM
-Boots from the escort quest in Mana tombs
-And maybe the Aldor Revered chest. It's a toss up between that and what you're wearing already, so it's not really an issue.

(Sorry for my lack of names, I'm a little out of it)

12000 hp
35% combined avoidance

those should be your goals. that's really it :o

as far as your build, I'd rather pick up 2/3 HS and 2/2 imp SW but that's just me, 2.3 will more than likely change that although i doubt it.

actually you seem to be well enough geared to do at least the first half of kara. at least to get to chess event with regularity. I dunno about prince or nightbane, but if you already got a solid group of healers you'll do just fine with those stats and a good routine of threat.

Every boss in Kara is obscenely easy i people aren't complete and utter morons, even with terrible gear. I've overseen semi-PUGs with people in terrible gear (including mine - playing on a friend's character) who plowed through the instance in record time despite greens and this being the first time for many of them. I've seen people in full Heroic/Epic/badge gear fail horribly at Attumen.

Your mileage may vary, but really, nothing is what you'd call... difficult.

I don't think RP was being totally sarcastic, more like hyperbolic.

Maybe the people didn't have full epics, but they OUTGEARED the encounter.

I've only been in Kara twice, both on my severely undergeared shaman who was elemental spec at the time.

Both time we blew through everything until we got to Prince.

And the Prince fight really isn't even about gear, it's about luck.

With bad infernal drops a 10-man in full BT/Hyjal gear could wipe on that fight.

With Attumen, a group that is overgeared for the fight could easily wipe if they didn't know the strategy or either of their tanks had a brain fart at the wrong time.

Not really.

No decurses on the tank means tank loses aggro (and can't get it back), at which point the boss butchered the DPS and healers.
