Hi Everyone! This is my first posting, so here goes...

First of all, I've been a spectator on these forums for several months now and I just want to say that the quality of the information here is MUCH better than many other forums I've visited, even with the umm... entertaining off-topic posts. It's helped me to really improve the quality of my game play, so thank you ALL!

At the moment, I'm a lvl 57 NElf hunter using the Precisely Calibrated Boomstick as my ranged weapon. I'm a 0/21/27 build, so I really like the +14 Agi I get from it; however, I want to start thinking about an upgrade, specifically a bow.

A quick search on wowhead.com (links to filtered bow list) shows a number of options. Most focus on +AP, +RAP, and/or +Crit rating, but not too much on +Agi.

So now to my question, finally...

What's my best bet in terms of obtaining an upgrade:
-Keep my eye on the AH to see if anything worthwhile pops up?
-Keep running the pre-TBC higher-end instances for upgrades (for example, Rhok'delar or Mandokir's Sting)?
-Work towards a PvP weapon?

Any advice/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

since you're at 57 working toward the 59 PVP bow isn't a bad option. Or, you could jump to Outland once you hit 58 and there is a nice crossbow Quest reward in Thrall that is obtainable at 58, iirc.

Check the loot from some of the higher end instances (non-raid pre-TBC) and see if there is an upgrade there, or check the AH for Blue bows that are nice. Also, one of the first quests in outlands at lvl 58 grants you a pretty nice crossbow.

Rhok'delar is not worth the effort unless you have a guild that has no problems running you through the instances and getting you the items, but somehow I just don't see it happening.

PvP weapons are also an option but can take a fair amount of time to get the points necessary.

I would honestly just wait until you hit outlands and get the x-bow from the quest and surprisingly, the random green bows that drop can be really nice if you get the "...of the Bandit" or "...of the Hunt" variety. These can also be bought on the AH for usually less than 10g, but an "...of the Hunt" Bow would be worth even up to 15g to me because of the stats and the rarity.

I'd like to see a Night Elf doing quests in Thrallmar! ;)

That said, I'm sure there's a similar quest for Alliance in Honor Hold.

My 59 hunter is wearing that xbow last night. I had 1 / 295 skill points in xbows, and I leveled it up to 292 in less than an hour. It was so awesome. All I did was go up to one of the boars outside Thrallmar, spam Scorpid Sting (instant attack, no cooldown outside of GCD, and the cheapest sting I have, at least I think so), and marvel as I was skilling up so fast it made my jaw drop. The xbow has a 2.2 attack speed, which helps for fast leveling, and the scorpid stings were just coming in a nonstop barrage. Sure, I had to drink after every single mob, but I think the price of 20 waters is worth it to level so quickly.
