now if all these rules apply, will enhancement get more benefit from flametongue weapon than windfury?

30% of AP is spell damage (enhancement 3 point talent)

lets say a shaman has 1500 AP

30% AP = 450 spell damage

40%(easy number) of 450 from a >1.5 second spell = 180

180 + last rank of flametongue = 120 - 300 added fire damage per hit

if this at 1500 AP is not greater than windfury, is there an attack power that would? flametongue has the benefit of not being mitigated by armor, yet can be resisted and the mob can be immune, but i like constant 100% proc hits like that.

You add 10% of spell damage per hit with Flametongue, not 40%.

It might make be viable with WF MH, fast OH Flametongue but WF is definitely better on the MH.

Yeah, IF you have a really good fast offhand flametongue will be better than WF on it, but a slow offhand with WF will still be better dps.

Flametongue will now scale somewhat with enh gear, but not nearly as well as Windfury. It's the same idea why Restos won't be taking Ele raid spots due to the +healing -> +heal/dmg gear change: it helps to balance out the growing schism between specs, but your "main" spec will still be dominant.

Now, off-handing FT... you may be on to something.

IMO windfury IS enhancement shaman and should never be replaced... although Frost Brand might be the NEW enhancement... =D
