Capping weapon skillsFollow

Is there a trick to getting that last point that I'm missing? I dual wielded an axe and dagger to get both skills up. Dagger started at zero while I had axe up to 150-200 or so. I'm whacking away and eventually get axes up to 349 while daggers are still at maybe 300. I keep whacking and get daggers up to 345 and axes are still stuck on 349. I come across a worthy second dagger so start using two daggers in the hopes of capping that and then concentrating on axes. Well, daggers are at 349 and have been for 2-3 days. I've been meleeing when I farm my clefthoof leathers, warp burgers, knothides, etc (all on green mobs). I play normal hunter tactics otherwise (tho I switch back to the axe for the better stats), but I'd I've spent 4-5 hours trying to get that last point, all to no avail.

I plan on capping all my weap skills (especially since I'll be needing ALOT of clefthoof leather for my LW skills), so I'm just wondering if there's a formula or something I need to follow?

The very last skill point is slowest. Don't sweat it. It will eventually be obtained.

With only one point left it isn't really worth it, but if you spam wingclip on the unkillable mobs in the blasted lands while your pet tanks, you can skill up really quick

I was afraid patience was the answer - sigh. And while that last point may not matter, it's a point of pride now. I'm not gonna let my profile show as a bunch of 349s!

my last bow point took me 2 weeks to get..........
It seems to be affected by luck though, because i had my gun and crossbow skill topped a lot faster.
(melee weapon skills i dont know, never pay much attention to em ;P )

If you're not already, try and equip the fastest dagger (or weapon you want to skill up) you can find.
This will mean you'll have a higher attach speed and you can just go whack at a servent in the blasted lands for a while.

At 70 it's probably safe to AFK for 3 or 4 minutes without your pet being killed.

Edit: the Poniard sold by most weapon merchants has unbeatable speed.
