Well, hit 69 this weekend after a bad PuG and then a few quests. With my guild getting ready to start Kara this next weekend(I'm not going, if I'm 70 by then, I know I won't be ready), I want to make sure I am ready before they actually start progression. I know our fisrt few runs are probably going to fail, so hoping to get ready before they actually start getting somewhere. We are only going to raid once a week, so I don't think it will be a problem. Anyway enough rambling.

Is this build acceptable for Kara? It will also double as a BG and Farming build. I will probably have to respec on Arena nights, but whatever.

Second is my gear, I am in desperate need of upgrades, I know, but I have Marks and Honor stored up for after the patch, hoping to grab some of the 70 BG rewards or the S1 Arena stuff. Tailoring got to 360 this weekend, gonna make the finalt pushes on that soon to try to get my FSW set. With some combination of those will I be ok, or do I need to run some more Instances and pray for drops for me. Don't think I've got a drop in the last 15-20 Instances I've done, and the few times something for me does drop, a healer usually wants it too. Here's my armory *gulp*....

Thanks in advance guys.

IMO Affliction is the best leveling build there is, although demonology w/ Felguard works pretty well too. I don't think that affliction is that great for raiding though, but I may be wrong. I have a build now that I'm hoping works well for raiding and pvp:

It gives pretty big crits and has reduced threat (~30%) for raids. It's not super mana efficient and I haven't had the chance to test it in raids or PvP yet, but on paper it seems like it would work.

Your raid only needs one malediction lock. You may wanna check w/ them.

The thing is I do not have the Crit to make Destro work. It's commonly said around here that a UA Build will out DPS a Ruin build unless you have 25% Crit chance from gear. With that you'll have enough to keep your ISB Debuff on the bosses and Spam SB. My gear sucks, and I know it, some of it will get better soon, but not good enough for Destro. Besides, I like Affliction, and will probably stick with it anyway, unless switching to Destro will make a HUGE difference. I know this from reading the forums here and other places, and that seems to be what everyone agrees on.

I guess the real question here is what will be more useful in Kara, Imp CoA or Malediction, or does that depend on my group make-up? Is it best to have both, just in case? I guess what I'm getting at is when does CoS or CoE become "required". If there's only one mage, is CoE worth it? If there's just me for 'lock, and no Shadow Priest, is CoS worth it?

I'd really like to be able to pick up IHoT and Imp. Imp in this build, since it will be doubling as BG and Farming build. If I could drop one, I could at least get IHoT back, both then I'm gold, but I think I'll need at least one, so which on is it?

In my opinion, drop the 2 in imp HEalthstone, and put 2 into imp imp, also drop the one is shadowburn and out it into imp imp. Take the 2 out of imp drain soul, and put them into imp life tap, sorted ^^

HS I was thinking of, only for IHoT, not Imp. Shadowburn I need cause this is doubling as a BG build. Drop Imp DS? Are you nuts? I need the 10% Threat reduction so I don't pull aggro from our tanks. We are new at Kara, I think we have a couple people with Kara experience, but not our tanks, so I want to keep threat as low as possible. Imp Life Tap is also an iffy suggestion, I mean I have Dark Pact, so I shouldn't need it as much. If I could squeeze the points in there somewhere I would, but I don't think I can get all the other things I need and take it also.

As said in my second post, my huge conundrum with this, is Imp CoA and Malediction, and at what point do they become useful. How many mages do you need to make CoE worthwhile and how many 'locks/SPriests before CoS becomes worthwhile?

If you are running with a competent tank, you shouldn't have to worry about threat management with affliction. Plus, there's always soulshatter just in case.

I'm not sure how competent our tank is going to be. I know I've pulled hate from him before with my current Affliction Spec though. He wasn't specced prot at the time though and he will be when we start running Kara. He just wasn't sure if he was going to be our Main Tank or not. He still may not be. Either way though, our available options for tanks at this time are all people w/o Kara experience, that I've pulled hate off of when I was 67 and they were 70. I know they were specced for Arena when they came and helped me though, and I didn't have KTM on, so I don't know how it will work out. All in all though, we are a group of people with no Kara experience, and I'm just trying to keep my bases covered.

Ok, well, I found the answer to my question, so for those interested here it is.

The magic number appears to be 2. If there are 2 Fire/Frost Mages or 2 Fire 'Locks, or any combination, CoE.

If there is you and one other non-Fire 'lock or SPriest then it's CoS.

So 2 was the number I was looking for.

I also found out, that if say there's only you with Shadow Damage, and only 1 Mage, CoR can actually be the best bet to help your Melee and Hunters out by lowering armor. Never thought of that one.

In my case, seeing as we only have me for 'lock, one mage(I think) and no SPriests, Malediction is not really needed in my build.
