i've been persistent and i've literally lost my way into my Merciless Gladiator's gloves at the cost of 2 arena teams with craptastic rankings... but i fear it's a waste of gold and does temendous damage to my ego atm.
my farming gear is all blues that gives me 1500power but health at around 9k...
i've farmed enough badges and honor for 2 veterans gear... but is the veteran's gear still worth it in light of the 2.3 patch?
are they going to be discounted?
also, at 2.3, i can either get Gladiator's 2h Weapon or 2 pieces of armor...
i am currently using Crow Wing Reaper with Savagery Chant as my main weapon...

Ever since I started a serious 2v2 team (just two weeks going and at 1653) I've started storing up my honor and badges, as well as my arena points to just buy the vindicator gear when patch 2.3 comes out.
i dont think i will be patient enough to loose my way through Merciless set...
plus, the vindicators, you need specific rankings...
yes, it could be my weary old joints showing early signs of carpal tunnel but still, i'd like to have a somewhat decent chance when i go into arenas...
so i'm trying to gear up BEFORE i start contending for the Vindicators...

You don't need specific ratings for the BG gear, it's all honor and badges. Only thing you need a certain rating for is arena weapons and arena shoulders.
Like I said I'm stock piling my honor and badges so I can buy all the vindicator stuff that I can when the patch goes live.

what rating do you need for the arena shoulders and weapons? can you lose the rating if you dont play for a while?
Jimpadan, thanks for your replies here... i'm kinda dense at the moment... basically, i would like to know, if you have enough honor points/badges to get one of the following:
1) 2 pieces of armor, be it 2x gladiators, 2x veterans or a mix,
2) 1 Gladiators 2h weapon
which would give me an immediate edge in BG's to be able survive and win more arenas?
if the armor is the choice, i am thinking that 2xGladiators > Mix or Veterans since i will get a 2piece set bonus.

The BG gear takes up different slots of armor than the gladiator gear. They also cost honor and badges as opposed to arena points like the gladiator gear.
When I have free time I'm farming honor and badges so I can buy the vindicator stuff when it comes out.
All the while I'm still doing my arena's for points that I'm stock piling until season 3.
In other words you don't have to choose between arena gear and bg gear.
Choosing between a S2 weapon and and season 3 gear is where you should be worried. Depending on what your currently weilding will be the biggest factor.

I'd say weapon first. That would be a serious upgrade. That is unless your a blacksmith, or farming Kara+. Then get your lazy but up off the forum, and get yourself a epic craftable bop, despair or gorehowl.
Crow wing reaper is ... nice for it's level (pre 70). But you want a slow, high top end damage weapon.
Well... maybe you could consider buying a BoE craftable/world drop epic instead... but that's usually really expensive, it's just immediate and helps you get your rating up to earn the rest of your pvp sets.
The season 2 weapons are really sexy though. I can't wait for season 3 to go live.

yes, noted, but in 2.3, S1 gear is purchasable with honor/badges and hence is it wiser to get 2 S1 Gladiators to get the Res bonus instead of Veterans or BG epics?

yes, i'd like to do this as well and i am very aware that it is not all about the gear but the player as well... but at the moment, i want to get geared to make my arenas a bit more effective... and help rebuild my confidence/ego in arenas...

my dilema is choosing between S1/Veterans gear vs S1 2h sword (which can be purchased with honor/badges come 2.3... remember, i am no way near your level guys... i'm just a casual gamer who likes to slack at office... LOL

damn sexy... i want the S2 Sword... i dont care much for the recycled skins for the S3 gear tho... but the numbers sure are sweet...
ok, i dont have that much honor stacked but with the current 30k honor and badges, i think i have decided to go for the following... let me know your ideas/opinions... thanks
1) purchase Khorium Champion to replace my current weapon
2) purchase S1 Gladiator's Plate Helm @ 14,500 honor 30AV badges
3) purchase S1 Gladiator's Plate Chestpiece @ 14,500 honor 30AB badges
4) save my current Arena Points to get S2 Merciless Gladiator's Plate Shoulders
