Hey, all. I'm going to ask for help on a subject that will probably get me yelled at, but I'm gonna ask anyway: build help.

My warlock

I have crummy gear, because I dislike PvP passionately, and I haven't done many 5-mans. The couple I've been through have left me feeling like I'm not pulling my weight (when I did SL with guildies, we couldn't get past Vorpil, and I felt like it was my fault. My control over the Felguard left something to be desired, and my DPS dropped every time my pet got killed, since the various Demo buffs give me a good 200 extra spell power). I leveled up to 60 as Affliction, and I've been debating whether or not to re-spec to UA again. When I did instances pre-BC, I always felt like I contributed as Aff (when I did Mauradon, I pulled Princess off our tank with ease; admittedly, he was specced Fury at the time, but still...)

My big question is exactly how to distribute talents.

Is the +15% Sta from Demonic Embrace worth it if I'm not PvPing? Will Affliction's goodies (Shadow Mastery, Contagion, two more DoTs) make up for the loss of Demonic Knowledge, Soul Link, Demonic Tactics, and Master Demonologist? Should I stick with what I have already?

/em makes sure his Fire Resist gear is at hand for the inevitable flames...

Yes, Affliction will rock in Instances. Felguard can be good, but has to be used right, if you have problems using him right, he isn't for you. Don't worry, he isn't for me either.

Of you options, 1 is the closest to something I would do. Why did you only take 1 in Imp Drain Soul though? 10% Threat reduction helps keep you from pulling hate from the tank. Also, 2/2 Imp Life Tap isn't as needed since you have Dark Pact. So I'd move that. If your going to be raiding, you might want to look at Malediction also. Personally, I'm also not a fan of Imp HS. It's nice, but not exactly required, I'd rather have Imp Imp and the extra Sta, nice in groups too. That's just my opinion though.

Hmm... didn't think about Imp. Life Tap vs. Dark Pact... I'll probably switch those up, then.

I've had my butt saved numerous times by the extra health from Imp. HS, and it helps out my party. I've never seriously considered Improved Imp for some reason, maybe because the other Improved minion spells are wasted once you get Felguard. It's probably also because, when I was doing drain-tanking I was using the Succubus over the Imp (since she'd keep the mob busy long enough for me to DoT 'em up completely, and contributed a bit of damage without spending her precious mana), so I don't think about the li'l guy.

If I need to get Malediction, so be it, but I prefer having Imp. Howl of Terror as an "Oh, sh*t!" button for solo work. I don't intend to be doing heavy-duty raiding at present, but I'm perfectly willing to do what's necessary to make a party/raid work.

Yeah, I know. I'm not worried about losing the Felguard actually (although he ROCKS for solo work), I'm more curious if I'd lose DPS potential by speccing away from Soul Link/Master Demonologist/Demonic Knowledge, as those buffs give me a significant damage boost. I've no head or patience for really doing the number-crunching and testing to find out, and I'm hoping someone can at least point me in the right direction to get my questions answered.
