Dinged 70...now what?Follow

*AHEM- sorry for the poor formatting

Now, I know that this will most likely have some idiot flame me for asking a stupid question or two, so here goes anyway:
I managed to ding 70 last night, big woot lol, and I was wondering what the end-game was like for BC?
I know about kara, the raiding ordeal,
PvP, arena, rep grinding for heroic's and whatnot...is that all?

2nd question is:
My spec is a mess mix of Affliction and Destro w/ very little demo. Can any lock veterans recommend a build that is useful to the
raiding game w/ some solo possibilities in it? I have been farting around with some talent calculators,
and I have been wanting to try Destro a bit just to see how I can work with it.
(I know about Destro and its mana efficiency) I have also seen some SM/RUIN
builds with their assorted variations. Or any other build with ruin included. Any others that would be beneficial?
(I also know about +shadow dmg gear, and +spell crit/hit and such)

Once again, I KNOW my spec/gear/whatever is not the best...gimme a break >.>

was my farm/pvp/instance build.its for the times im cheap on gold and want all around build.
You're better off with dots and shadowbolt spamming until you get some +hit,+crit,more spelldmg then you go with ultimate raid builds and such.

On trash in instances i usually corr and shadow bolt.
On bosses amplify+CoD ,all dots and shadow bolt.

edit :forgot imp life tap in build,so loose some points if you want it =p

That build you posted WAS what I was using...but I decided to go ahead and swap for a 40/0/21 variation spec using that template.
All in all, UA is nice but I like the crits I have been getting w/ ruin+soulfire here lately.

As of Patch 2.3 Shadow Embrace will no longer count as an Affliction spell for the Siphon Life talent bonus, making the talent pretty damn useless to most Warlocks (there's always someone else who can go full Shadow Embrace for raids, right?).

Since Improved Life Tap isn't that needed with Dark Pact, you can skip those as well. Suppression is nice for dumping points, but later on you'll get enough Spell Hit Rating so you don't have to max it out (I only put one point in it).

I think you'll agree with me that Improved Drain Soul is good for the 10% less threat. As a bonus, it makes farming for shards much easier (use rank 1 Drain Soul). My Warlock has roughly 7500 mana which means that she'll get back a shard and 1125 mana whenever she kills something while draining its soul.

Affliction:

5/5 Improved Corruption
2/2 Soul Siphon
2/2 Improved Drain Soul


As you can see, we now need one more point to unlock the next row of talents. Suppression makes for a great talent here. 2% isn't a lot, but it'll save you some Spell Hit Rating in the run.

1/1 Amplify Curse
5/5 Fel Concentration
2/2 Grim Reach
2/2 Nightfall
3/3 Empowered Corruption
1/1 Siphon Life
1/1 Curse of Exhaustion
5/5 Shadow Mastery
5/5 Contagion

Up until now it's been pretty straightforward. As you can see I skipped Shadow Embrace due to the Patch 2.3 change. What you decide to do from here on and out is up to your playstyle. I suggest:

2/2 Howl of Terror
3/3 Malediction
1/1 Unstable Affliction


I don't remember the exact math, but I remember reading that unless you have a ******** of Spell Crit Rating, Unstable Affliction beats Ruin in DPS. Since Spell Crit Rating isn't really useful for an Affliction Warlock (DoTs can't crit *sob*) I put my money on Unstable Affliction.

Note that you only need 2 points in Malediction to unlock Unstable Affliction. I put the last point in there because once I'm done with the other talent trees I'll have one point in spare and Malediction is +3 to the Shadow Priest and Mage epeens out there.

Demonology:

5/5 Demonic Embrace

We'll get back to Demonology later.

Destruction:

5/5 Improved Shadow Bolt
5/5 Bane
1/1 Shadowburn

That's pretty much what I consider MUST HAVE talents for a heavy Affliction build. If you didn't put 3 points in Malediction you'll now have 4 points to dump wherever. I highly recommend maxing out Malediction as you'll gain a couple of new fan clubs if you're the Curse of Shadow ***** in the raid.

This is how I'd put the last 3 points:

Demonology:

3/3 Improved Imp
or
3/3 Fel Intellect

It's a matter of preference, in my opinion. Do you want 3% more mana and a larger mana battery to suck from with Dark Pact, or do you want 30% more health from Blood Pact? With Improved Imp your Blood Pact will be increased from 70 to 90 stamina. That's only 20 stamina (200 health) and I'm debating whether or not there are better talents to spend them on.

Anyway, that's how I'd go with the new changes and everything. I just hope the note about Shadow Embrace is true, otherwise my nice build will go down the drain.

My current build:

I'm able to endlessly grind 71 mobs while maintaining 95%/90% (hp/mana) at all times per one mob, 75%/65% per two, 65%/50% per three.

I'm also getting in the top 4 for dps (alterac), and running 35%+ overall dps on instances with Kara-attuned 70's (tonight's slabs did 46% with kara mage and kara hunter).

You'll need to change though, if you plan on serious raids.
