Can Someone explain this to me? Are certain spells AoE spells, like rain of fire, or Howl? I may be way off, but I'm laying it on the table anyway....start chopp'in!

Any spell or ability that causes an effect over an area, as opposed to a single target, is considered an Area of Effect spell/ability, or AoE. Warlock AoE spells include Rain of Fire, Hellfire, Howl of Terror, and Seed of Corruption. The Voidwalker has an AoE threat-gaining ability (name escapes me at the moment, I haven't used VW since switching to Demo), and the Felguard has a Cleave attack.

I'm not really sure I get your question, but I believe what you ask has something to do with what warlock spells are AoE... I'll answer that, in the best way I can and hope that's your question.

Warlocks do have AoE spells, not as many as mages, but we do. If what you want is a master of AoE'ing stuff down, get a mage, but we are able to do some very nice dps with AoE spells.

Basically our AoE spells are Rain of Fire (X damage over time to Y Area at Z range, damage comes with ticks, fire damage, very much like the counterpart of Mage's blizzard spell), Hellfire (VERY EFFECTIVE AoE spell, however, it requires you to be right in the middle of the action, since the damage is done to all units in X area AROUND you, basically you cast the spell on yourself, also, it does the same damage you do to units around you, to the caster, not meaning if you do 300 dps to 4 units you will get 1200 dps, you will get 300, use only when getting healed/bubbled), Howl of Terror (Not really a damage spell, but it does have an Area of Effect; it basically has a 2.0 seconds cast time, can be done instant cast with affliction talents, and it fears X number of targets for Y number of seconds in a relatively large area around you) , and Seed of Corruption (Damage over Time spell, 2.0 seconds cast time, it does a very nice amount of DoT shadow damage to the target, and when the duration is over, or the target dies, it does a large amount of shadow damage in an explosion that damages all units caught in it). NOTE: If you are Destruction specced, you can get the 41-pointer talent called Shadowfury, wich is basically an AoE ranged stun, that does nice shadow damage, and has a really low cast time.

*Ouch, that was a pretty large paragraph*

Anyway, I believe those are all of our AoE spells, but concering your minions, you also have some, for example Voidwalker can use Suffering (is that the name? I cant remember... poor VW got nailed long time ago) to grab (or try to) the aggro from all the units around him by basically doing an AoE taunt, has not a short cooldown, so dont rely on it.

And I believe Felguard has Cleave too, wich im not sure can be categorized as an AoE spell, because it just does damage to the target an his nearest ally, but it still does damage to several targets.

And... I believe thats it.
