Arena night: my disc/heal priest and I met a double frost team. I couldn't do anything because of their four frost novas (2 from mages, 2 from pets). I was constantly stuck in this ice (despite using CoS) while they were taking down my priest, who obviously couldn't heal enought to counter this damage.

Any tip on how we should've played this to win... or was it just not winnable?

Thanks,

nostra

Have your Priest cast nothing but instants and dispelling ALL magic effects on you and him/her.

That will greatly lower thier damage. Kill the pets, use blind/fear when you can and also LOS them/pets to waste time.

Run them out of mana, which won't be hard as long as your Priest can dispel everything on you.

if you have imp sprint, COS and imp sprint... rushdown kill a elemental.... focus on 1 of the mages (if you kill mage a's elemental, go for mage b)

have the pri help by mana burning... if they CS him hes free to a: heal or b: mind control? risky but its cc nonetheless

focus on 1 till he blocks, then go blind the other

the fight will be easier in 2.3 i think, hypo being longer is gonna be ******* for them

sticking to instants and having him mana burn will prob help out though, either he mana burns your target or the other is either way

if he has a quick mass dispel thats a big help too, its harder to CS then (espec if you time it, you blind then he does the MD, global triggered by the pvp trinket will make one mage at least have no shot at stopping it)

ill emphasize it again; killing the pets is paramount. theyre huge sources of dps, but incredibly fragile. a few SS crits or an evis crit will take one down easily, and you wont have to expect another unless theyre stupid and cold snap before they ice block (which means only one ice block to worry about).

alone, a frost mages dps isnt too terrible to face, but added with the crit bonus on frozen targets, its beastly.

also, the emphasis on instants is important. prom in that case will be bouncing a lot, and renew+shield will help longevity too, as well as mana burning the mages to either lower their fuel capacity or force a CS and then heal (altho if theyre smart theyll stagger their CS's so be prepared for that too).

Guys, thanks a lot for the replies. Quite a few handy tips!

My priest partner also pointed out that this fight started out real bad since he went away from the pillar and we goth both Frost Novaed in the open instead of being able to LOS around the pillar. He even told me that we had beaten such a team in the past (didn't remember that), so it's maybe not as bad as I thought.

In any case, the advice to take down the elementals is great, thanks a lot.
