ok im looking for the fastest leveling spec, im 21 lock right now and am trying to catch up to some friends (their 43 atm). I dont care i it has downtime or no down time doesnt matter (no downtime doesnt always mean fast) I just want a spec that i can level up fast on. i dont need to worry bout instaces or anything , im just doing quest/grinding.
Well, if you don't care about downtime, than really an affliction spec, a demo spec or a destro spec will be fastest.
In all honesty, it all comes down to playstyle. All trees are viable for 'locks, it's just what your comfortable with. How do you want to play your 'lock? Read the Playstyle stickie, while slightly dated, the playstyles still remain true.

the fastest leveling spec is patch 2.3
I leveled quite smoothly playing the Demon spec - having the beefed up pets meant that they could easily handle all of the abuse from the mobs and leave me free to do as I pleased with my health and mana and when things went horribly wrong, the pet could survive the abuse long enough for me to hoof it to safety, often times even getting far enough from the disaster that I'd get my soul shard back as the pet poofed.
