#1 Nov 01 2007 at 8:00 AM Rating: Decent
Hi Everyone. New here :) I have a 60 rog that has not been played in over a year and all of my talent points are reset and ready to respend.. I just am not sure how to respend them.. I can say that I want a PvP build, I prefer daggers~ from what I can remember?~and will be playing with a 60 warrior at most times.. so I am thinking DPS for me? But any advise on a new build would be really appriciated :) Thanks~

My advice to you is... get to lvl 70. And I'm not saying this to be a smart-***. Here's the reason:

The expansion offers amazing items, starting at lvl 58 (or even earlier if you get teleported there). Those green items are better than the former lvl 60 blues. You obviously can't quest there because you probably don't have the expansion... and even if you had it, you couldn't quest there else you'd level up to lvl 61 and you couldn't pvp in the 60 bracket anymore.

Basically, if you stick to 60, you'll get crushed by players with expansion stuff which will be much better than yours.

But take heart, this is no bad thing. Leveling to 70 from 60 is fast and fun. And you'll get all those new abilities which would be interesting as well.

Last but not least... sorry I can't recommend any build since I wasn't pvping at the time where the extension did not exist. My guess would be to go Muti/Sub to meet your criteria (dagger and pvp oriented) but the real gurus around here might give you better advice.

Well, in that case I wouldn't hesitate long and level up to 70. It doesn't take long as I said and the "real" pvp takes place at 70. At 60, you'll be frustrated I guess.

Yes back and forth onthat.. I kind of enjoy being in the BG at 60 vs what 61 will be like LOL.. Yes going to grind and do some quest for better armor and such, need to look around for that as well..Just needed to start with my build so I can at least play decent while leveling.. Thanks for your help :)

If you go this way (which I think is the wise way), then you don't have to use the Muti build I recommended above.

I leveled up as both a Muti/combat and a Combat swords rogue and I'd say that the latter is easier. But that might have been because I had a priest healing me. If you don't and have only a warrior on your side, then maybe the stun-locking possibilities with Muti will serve you better. It's your pick.

Links to both builds in my sig.

Not to nitpick, but I don't think I've ever heard of anybody using EA in a BG ever. Especially pre-70.

Sassinu,

Sounds like you are the perfect candidate for a Mutilate build. I leveled from 60-70 with Muti, and loved it. I'm a Muti Rogue now, and have no need to even consider the deep combat builds that are so popular at the moment. No cooldown management issues with Muti.....just a big helping of serious kickass.

Read the stickies for details.

Nostra:

I just viewed you Muti/Combat build and I have to agree. You have improved EA, but no improved Kidneyshot?

Ouch.

I'm using EA on players. It's been demonstrated after a discussion on this board that EA has a great return on both clothies and plate wearers, even if you use just 2-3 CPs. In a 1 on 1 situation, especially against a plate wearer, I'd use EA over Evisc anyday, unless I think that Evisc will finish off the target obvisously (but Evis damage is so unreliable).

And I'm using EA on bosses when no tank is present (Alterac in particular).

It's also been demonstred on this board in a convincing manner that Imp KS isn't that great (and is thus over-valued in the general rogue community).

So it actually makes sense to have Imp EA instead of Imp KS. Not saying that those who make another choice are stupid, but that I made this choice after considering the issue carefully and nobody so far has demonstrated that this is a wrong choice.

Obviously, if you think I'm wrong, please demonstrate so and I'll be grateful to you for making me a better rogue!

Confirmed.

My muti build differs (currently experimenting) but tbh Nostraa is correct on all points.

At lvl 60 it might work well even a heavy subt build(lol ShS might be actually effective at that lvl).
The best advice would be to try out a couple of builds and see which one you like more.
