How much would an Orb of Mistmantle really help a 23 shadow spec priest. I am going to start duoing with my cousin's warlock and this thing looks nice... but it's a little pricey and I'm not really sure ho much the added spell increases will help.

I am totally clueless about these stats so if someone could please explain them a little bit I would appreciate it.

Also, any advice for us as a duo would be great too.
Thanks!

At level 23, any damage increases are so small that you'll hardly notice them. The orb only has +4 spirit, 9 healing and 6 shadow damage. Imho, its not worth the investment if it's pricey on your server. I'd definitely be more concerned with +int/+sta than +dmg at this level.

You'll probably end up with a quest reward at some point that has better stats on it, ie, intellect/stam or maybe even int/healing. If I remember correctly, the items with the best stats for our class at that level are two handers, which will make it so you can't carry the orb anyway.

As far as duoing with a lock, I think its a great choice. Once you get a little deeper into your shadow talents, you'll find that you compliment each other nicely as far as mana returns and +shadow damage. You can use the lock's VW to tank for you so you're not getting hit and fire away!

Have fun!

i agree completely with wadus, at your level gear (in my opinion) is not all that important especially if the stats are not a big improvement. As i was leveling i did not buy any expensive gear. I tailored what i could and used the quest rewards. If you are a tailor you can make some shadoweave set which is +shadow dmg. That might be lvl 40. But save your money, use quest rewards and youll see that as you level, the gear you loot is gonna be a much better "investment". good luck!

oh yea, and lock/spriest is a good combo to level, just look at the talent tres and they compliment each other greatly.

2 handers usually provide better overall stats than a 1 hander + off-hander.

And at the low levels stay away from pricey gear on the ah. You're much better off saving the money and getting gear from instances or the cheap upgrades here and there. Once you hit 40 you'll want to buy your mount a.s.a.p. because it makes such a huge difference.

The best way to make money is to not spend it.

At lower levels you'll outgrow your gear fast anyways. Ask yourself if the 25g, 50g, 100g, etc is worth the 1-5 extra int, sta or whatever stats it has. Especially if you're not going to use it in 5-10 levels.

I agree with the others, increases are minimal. but I would like to comment on your pairing with your cousins Lock. my main is a 70 lock, i ran with a priest from basically level 20 to level 60 that was healing spec. It worked perfect with her healing me & my pet (voidwalker) using my pet to tank & through the whole time we were running together we may have wiped a dozen times total! & when we did I always had a soulstone on her. I dont know how well it would work with you as a shadow spec priest as your healing ability will be somewhat hindered. good luck running though, i found it was an awesome combination doing all our quests together. : )
