WILL PEOPLE EVEN READ THE FRIGGEN QUESTION?
I am NOT asking "what is your pet's name?"
I am NOT asking "what do you call your pet in-game?"
I AM asking "What do you use as a general name for pets when discussing tactics/specs/etc. on the forums" and "do you use your pets name for that, or is it just an ambiguous name?"

Caldone, it is NOT a "pet name" thread. It is different, and if you would have taken the time to pay attention, you would have noticed. To most of the answers, thanks for making me lose faith in this forum.

Sorry that I couldn't quite get a lock on what you were actually asking skribs and I did read the question (many times), so I covered many bases, making an assumption of course, that I'd actually hit what you were asking for.

It seems I was correct as I DID say:

Quote:
If I'm talking pets in general in the game or here, I'll say "pet" or "pets". I even call Lock's buddy's pets even though they are more appropriately summoned demons and not 'pets' per se. So, to me, it's a generic term to mean sidekick, controlled summoned creature, or tamed creature you have to feed.

Which concisely covers your newly clarified question of:
Quote:
I AM asking "What do you use as a general name for pets when discussing tactics/specs/etc. on the forums" and "do you use your pets name for that, or is it just an ambiguous name?"

It seems others got pretty close as well. Again, I apologize for misunderstanding what you were asking for, however in my defense, it doesn't seem to have been that all that clear to many others. I'm sorry if my post didn't help, just ignore me then. I wasn't trying to make you lose faith in the forum or anything like that, I was trying to answer your question... perhaps badly.

I always get a kick out of the names ppl give their pets. I have a Ravenger- Pedro, and Echeyakee-Snatch (Because its always parting between my legs).

I use "the pet" or "my/your pet".

Mines is called Bigboaby, so does my character have a bigboaby?!
I don't know..... stay tuned in to find out.
Nah i named my 1st ever pet after my actual RL dog, but only had it for like 10lvls then ever since then i've probably named like 2 outta about 10-15 pets ive had. Also a lot of people in arena have never been hit by a bigboaby till they fight me.

although

/lick--- Jawbaws licks Bigboaby. Hmmmmm never really thought that through.

I had to read your "FRIGGEN QUESTION" four times and I still didn't understand wtf you were asking. More importantly, every time I thought I understood what you were asking, the first thing that came to mind was, "What a ******* pointless question to ask" so I gave you the benefit of the doubt in assuming you meant something else.

Maybe I was wrong. Maybe you did just ask a pointless question. Dunno why you're getting butthurt about the responses you're getting. Your question is what is ambiguous (and nearly indecipherable). At least they're not flaming you.

I have a Loch Moden crocodile, so I think he deserves the respect of his proper name, or he'd rip us to shreds and run, I mean, c'mon, he has 6 legs? Eeek! Anyway, his name is Cricks, and, yes, I do refer to him as Cricks, not 'My Pet' and I also refer to other peoples pets using their name.

/sigh - this reminds me of my first pet. I went to Loch Modan for some reason and trained a spider. Named her Daisy. Why? She told me that was her name.

She didn't work out well as a pet. She was ... difficult. So I fed her up and let her go near her home. But I still miss her. It wasn't her fault - she was a Sagitarius or something - that's why she had problems.

True story, btw.

Oh, as to what the real point of this thread was ... what? I don't get it. You're asking what we call our pets? "Pets?" I mean, you can just read a sampling of posts and see for yourself... right?

Or am I missing something (hears Twilight Zone music in the background - suspects someone Rod S. is laughing)....

*Ambiguous pet names meaning the name you use to describe a pet, in general, such as:
  • responding to a newb "If <pet> can't hold aggro..."
  • explaining a story "When <pet> did X..."
  • describing talents/abilities "So <pet> will hit harder"
  • etc.

  • I think he was asking what you use when your saying about pets in general, not the name of your pet.

    I use Old Yeller.

Well, even though the question itself is completely and utterly pointless, here's an answer:

There is no answer to that. There is a nigh infinite amount of contexts in which you may have the option of referencing your/someone elses pet. And what you would use would depend entirely on the context, the person you are talking to and how much you and the person you are conversing with know about the subject at hand.

Thus the answer would range from anywhere between Humar, Cat, Pet, to Druid, ******, tank, tool, DoT and countless other possibilities. No definite answer.

Do ease up on the butthurt though. We have enough of those without you going back to your roots on these boards.

Actually, I'm just glad someone pointed it out. I had a nasty twitch every time I read the thread title and then the contents of the post. I just thought it was my [i]make yourself properly understood, ************* instincts kicking in.

Every now and then I will go back and forth from "your pet" to the pets actual name, now when it comes to my pet Shirkhan (AKA:King B),I named him named after the tiger in the Jungle Book cause it was one of my fav disney movies growing up, I call him by his name.I'm a female in RL, but All my pets that I get are male and get male names even though you cant really tell on pets unless you got a lion or a lioness but most pets are whatever gender you want it.

    I know! I know! Let's have a ... drum roll please ... a HIJACKING CONTEST!

Pat, I'd like to buy a vowel, please. I'd like to buy a "Y" if I could.

    Um, "Y" is a consonant.

But "Y" is sometimes a vowel.

But here on the "Wheel of Torture," the letter "Y" is a consonant.

T/F On the Wheel of Torture, can you not buy a "Y" because it is a "consonant?"

(Further note, the host's last name rhymes with "hijack" - or perhaps slant-rhymes - try to top that!)
