Curse of Doom procing DoomguardFollow

I have read that using CoD is a good way to do high dps on a boss (at least as a better alternative to curse of agony) but what should I do if a doomguard is summoned? Should I enslave it and throw him at the boss or resummon my original pet (I've never tried this so I'm assuming that will desummon him)?

I've never heard anyone talking about this being an issue so maybe it's such a low probability that it doesn't matter but I would like to know what to do if it happens before I start using it in fights. Currently I use CoS (or CoE if there's a mage) but would like to mix it up a bit.

Curse of doom has to deliver the killing blow for a chance to summon a doomguard. So the chances of your curse of doom popping AND being the killing blow AND summoning a doomguard are pretty low.

Even if it happened, the boss would be dead from your killing blow, so just enslave it, banish it or let your raid kill it, up to you. I think it would be pretty epic if CoD delivered the KB and summoned a doomguard, so I'd tell my raid to back off over vent while I enslaved it :P

Curse of Doom *only* summons a Doomguard if it is the last amount of damage that finishes off a target. So, you will not summon one by using CoD for damage on a boss unless the spell kills it, which means you won't have to worry about one popping up in the middle of the fight.

They can be nice damage, I guess, but CoD has an extremely low proc chance, plus you have to make sure to do just enough damage before it goes off that it kills the target, *plus* (the most important part) Doomguards have a very high shadow resist. You will have to cast Curse of Shadow and have a reasonable spell penetration stat plus some nice luck to keep your Doomguard for more than a minute or two.

In all, it's a very bad instance pet. It's only slightly better if you summon one with the Ritual of Doom, and that has a chance to kill you off while you simply lose the demon.

CoD>CoA for damage. Once again, with locks, its down to how long THEY live. Full duration FTW

Also, Videos of CoD procc'in FTW (it has never happened for me)

I have like a 10% proc rate w/ CoD, I wouldn't qualify that as terribly low. Still, it will be a rare occassion that it pops a doomguard after a boss and even more rare that your group can't handle it if it does.
