Wat lvl would you say to switch to prot 60 maybe?
Whenever you want to seriously start tanking instances and not worrying about leveling anymore is when you should spec to prot.

THen 60 sounds good to me cuz rigt now i cant lvl worth crap prot at 40
don't bother til 70. you can tank any instance just fine with a dps spec as long as you have 5/5 deflection, 5/5 cruelty and 3/3 imp TC.
also, warriors are a very gear-dependent class, and if your dps gear isn't the best then soloing in prot will be slow and painful. that being said, if you have a good set of dps gear and a big 2h, WW and slam (even basic 1.5s cast slam) will get you by just fine when prot soloing.

Since the Outlands I've respec'd 4 times... I think. I'd clear a few zones, then decide I want to tank for ubber gears. I get some PUGs, get some nice stuff, then get bored.
Right now I'm currently Fury... and omg it's powerful. I have a priest buddy on my friends list, who asks me daily if I want to DPS for <instance>. I always say sure! We always rock the place *knock on wood* so I'm not doing too bad.
Last night we just cleared Old Hillbrad, cake walk. Lol, I off tanked a caster in Berserker stance and DW. Pummel FTW.
Change w/e you want OP... just know respec'ing will get spendy :/ I know from experience XD Just keep in mind there's a world of rep grinding ahead, and quests.
I'm not going back to Protect until I get the quests and rep that I would like to be at. Right now working on Consortium (ogre necklace), then heading on over to neatherwing? in the little bubble to complete more consortium stuff. When you go prot, grinding will slow down... for me at least. I'm sure you can get away with solo as a protect when you're epic'd out, but I'm still in greens/blues lol.
I'd suggest for instances... around Underbog... Maybe as far as A.Crypts or Manatombs go Protect. UB has the 2 big trent mobs that hit like trucks.

yeah i mean im good at the tanking i switched at 40 im 41 now but im gonna spend the gold to respec back to fury since i can till 70 or 60 if i feel like it and have the dps gear thx for the advice
Just respecc and try, it isnt that much gold...]
edit: ehmm 61 or 62 and then only do instances is good

oh noez, 1 hour of farming for primals to pay for both respecs! :/
to the op - don't spec prot until you have to do heroics or MT kara and beyond

HAH! if i'm lucky it takes an hour to get that many primals, that would be at least two fire primals or 2.5-3 of water/air/mana... i'd also have to be lucky enough that the elemental plateau or the kirin'tor village aren't crowded with other farmers. i've had times where farming for 2-3 hours only got me a primal or less an hour.
i'm trying HFP for now, i know i can make at least a solid 30g/hour just on silver, then there's all the cloth/trash/greens that drop also.

When you respec, make sure you get a little practice before diving into shattered halls or a heroic.
I've run into people who clearly just respec'd and knew nothing aboutholding aggro on multiple mobs.
I'm not saying you don't know how to tank, just s trend I've noticed.
