Hey Guys,
I have been looking through the Pre-raid warrior loot list at http://wow-loot.com/warrior.htm and have come to a dilemma as for what sort of gear i should go for and what actual gear i should get.
Here is my Armory Profile.
I am stuck between what would be better to get....more crit or more AP (I know both would be good but im wondering which i should stack up on the most)
And if you can think of any nice loot i should try for post it (with reason, no posting S2/3 Arena gear or high end raiding gear).
Thanks to anyone that helps out (If I like your advise i'll give you teh sexy rate ups)

Your legs really need to be swapped out for Legguards of the Shattered Hand. It goes for roughly 50 gold on my server, and they are FANTASTIC fury legs. One of the best blue ones you can find.

Also, having a 1.8 speed mainhand isn't very effective for whirlwind and cleave, and the like. You need to off-hand that dagger and work on getting a slower mainhand.

Otherwise, your attack power and crit is respectable for someone in mostly blues. My AP and crit is right around yours as well.

What you DO need, DESPERATELY, is hit rating. 45 hit rating is not gonna cut it. The legs I linked earlier will help a little, but you might need to either socket for +hit or look for gear with +hit. That epic ring from the horseman is nice, but its all stam and AP. Something like Ravenclaw Band would be a fantastic addition. You can also swap out that belt for something with +hit on it. I'm still using Tracker's Belt for when I DPS.

the pvp purples [pre raids] - all of them save the neck

heroic items [pre raids] - most notably some weapons, the doomplate armor set, rings... gear from badges and crafted from primal nethers.

then there are also arena epics which you can get in a few weeks of farming points as well.

should EASILY get you to over 150 hit, 1600 ap and 25 crit unbuffed in battle stance.

here's a rough run down item by item

helm - your helm is ok, not going to really find something that much better for a bit before raiding unless you want to spend a ton for BSing helm

neck is good

shoulders - doomplate shoulders are good

cape - the pvp cape [or even better ,wait until 2.3 and get the new cape]

chest - doomplate chest is pretty sick

bracers - pvp bracers

gloves - doomplate gloves, assassination gloves can work ok as well

belt - pvp belt

pants - vanquishers legplates or midnight legguards

rings - the pvp ring and maybe the spirit shard ring is even better

trinkets - heroic badge trinket, abacus of violent odds or hourglass of the unraveler.

weapons - blade fist for MH, and if possible some slower off hand since 2.3, ww will hit with both weapons

felsteel knives for ranged

also enchants -

helm - CE revered AP/Hit enchant
shoulders - aldor/scryer enchant
cloak - +12 agility enchant
chest - 6 to all stats
bracers - 12 str
gloves - 15 str
pants - ap/stam [at least the blue pattern one]
feet - 12 agi

for gems try to socket ap/crit gems, although atm your crit is a bit low [and def. your hit as well]

Sorry to hi-jack the thread Ruin (well it isn't REALLY a hi-jack). But I'm in the same boat, by choice and limitations of playing style. My list of gear is normally something Pre-Instance, not Pre-raid. ie, I look for gear I can find without going in to instances.

This means Quest rewards, drops, AH purchases (which are drops as well, I guess - just not mine), crafted items, rep rewards and PvP rewards.

My question is this . I have 2 sets of numbers, very similar, but both are better in their own little way.

Set #1
Power 1512
Hit Rating 140
Crit Chance 27.44%

Set #2
Power 1516
Hit Rating 145
Crit Chance 26.47%

Now the only difference is that set #1 has 3 Gladiator plate items in it (Chest, helm, legs), set #2 has the Ragesteel chest, overlord's helm and shattered hand legguards).

The big diffs is that the PvP-centric outfit is higher in crit (nearly a full one %), but is lower on both the hit and AP. From what I understand, those 5 points in hit equate to abut 0.4% hit.

I haven't factored in the chestplate of a'dal yet ... but that does lose out quite dramatically on crit and ap over the other 2, although it does have some hit ... soo ... *shrug*

ofc, the pvp based outfit gives me about 1300 hp extra and 1000 armour extra, which as a solo questing / farming dps warrior may or may not be important.

These number are unbuffed, in battle stance.

So I guess the big question ... 0.4% hit or 1% crit.

ofc, to answer your request for advise ... what russki and greenroom said.

I made use of wow-loot gear finder ( http://www.wow-loot.com/gearguide.php ) . It allows you to rank stats in importance, and then showed you the gear which would most fit those requirements. Also shows you were to get the gear (drop, quest reward, etc, etc)

What I looked at was hit, crit, ap ... in that order. Once I hit 130 hit, I then focussed on crit, after that AP.

My goals were 130 hit ... 25% crit ... 1500 AP I achieved that by getting all the quest items on the list, and crafted whatever else I needed.

str > crit > ap > hit

after you have the minimum hit requirements to not miss special attacks and are sitting at 25+ crit UB

I'm not sure where haste is now but I would imagine it to be before hit - before the nerf it was before crit

There are a bunch of craftables you can get as upgrades

Shoulders- Ragesteel shoulders- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=33173&locale=enUS;source=live

Bracers- Black Felsteel Bracers- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=23537&locale=enUS;source=live

Hands- Fel Leather Gloves- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=25685&locale=enUS;source=live

Legs-
for this you could buy Legguards of the Shattered Hand- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=31298&locale=enUS;source=live
OR get Fel Leather Leggings crafted http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=25687&locale=enUS;source=live

Boots- Fel Leather Boots- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=25686&locale=enUS;source=live

Ranged- Felsteel Whisper Knives- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=29204&locale=enUS;source=live

for other slots look at the sticky, but one thing it dosent tell you about is this

Off Hand- Merciless Gladiator's Quickblade- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=32027&locale=enUS;source=live

Now I know you said no arena gear but this only takes four weeks of losing 10 5v5 games a week, all you gotta do is find four people who want 300+ points a week, get them to make a 5v5, lose 10 games, get points on wednesdy and remake, this will cost 160g each over four weeks but you will get the best OH until SSC/TK or S3 if you have a rating above 1850

EDIT: I just realised your using that emerald ripper in your main hand, god I'm slow this morning, you need a slow as possible MH for whirlwind. Fortunately your Aldor, meaning you can get Vindicator's brand- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=32027&locale=enUS;source=live get exalted and get this, put ripper in your OH. Sorry to be short on that i gotta run :P

Well i'm going to be stuck until 2.3 it looks like.
My server seems to really dislike DPS warriors for 5-mans, so until 2.3 i aint doing any heroics.
And the Vindicator's Brand i am going for, just need to find a good place to farm marks of sargeras and fel armaments.

would the entire fel leather set be viable for a fury warrior during an instance or a raid?
the amount of + hit and crit and ap and the possible sockets is making me want to buy them
#13 Oct 31 2007 at 2:45 PM Rating: Decent
ok nwv that crap about the fel leather set, i found items i should be able go get easily, or already have (save for 2 items requiring exalted rep) that gets me 163 hit

Leather is fine if thats what your asking, as DPS you "shouldn't" be taking damage and so the lost armour/stam is fine, keep your plate for farming though...

Mind telling me what they are? I may look in to them :P

I'll have to go through the items again, but you should also note that it means sacrificing the gem slots on the items for rigid dawnstones (need 8 all together)
vindicator's brand
veterans musket
overlords helm of second sight
chestplate of a'dal
legguards of the shattered hand
obsidian clodstompers
adamantite wrists
deathforge girdle
The exorcist ring (from the sprit shard dude)
And there's a +hit ring that Talon King Ikkis drops.

something else to bring up.... you have absolutely 0 enchants. This will help, even if it's boring lvl 60 enchants. 15 str to glove, 12 str bracer, 20 str to weapons (it's cheap, and your probably gonna replace those items), and 6 to all stats on chest. are some pretty easily attainable enchants (depending on server enchanter stinginess, but you can socket blue gems in mediocre gear so money doesn't seem to be an issue) that provide a pretty good boost to overall DPS. 73 str or 146 ap... is pretty good. Consider socketing in your red/yellow sockets +4 str +4 crit, and in your blue sockets +4 str +6 sta. It's a good boost to Crit and AP. If an item socket bonus doesn't add up to being useful enough, you can always just socket a gem that doesn't match the socket.
#17 Nov 01 2007 at 2:09 PM Rating: Decent
Well money is an issue for me at the moment, as i don't get on much and when i do get on i can't seem to be ***** to do the Skyguard dailies.

This morning i changed all my sockets to +6 hit gems, and reequipped my chestplate of a'dal, so i lost 3 crit rating, about 20 ap, but gained a lot of hit rating.

Enchants will be next on my list (after getting my felsteel throwing knives crafted)

Found this post a while back.
Use it as a reference in what you need to work on.
Scroll down to the 4th post.
Should be fairly accurate in what you should have.

Heh i should easily hit that in the next few weeks hopefully.
Only item i want for my setup that i won't have for a while is my vindicator's brand, cause i am yet to find an uber place for farming marks of sargeras and fel armaments, though i can farm sunfury signets and arcane tomes pretty easy, maybe i should hope for swaps after farming them.

Edit:

After i get my deathforge girdle and socket it appropriately, i should be good for stats (swapping some gems for rigid dawnstones will allow my to also use other good gems to increase my stats)
