Aldor or ScryerFollow

#1 Oct 30 2007 at 8:48 AM Rating: Decent
okay, it's that time. I gotta decide....Aldor, or Scryer?

Im a Balance Druid, so which would you say would be the best choice for me? I heard that both can be good, but depends if ur going PvP or PvE....but i usually do both.

Scryer appears to have the better mana-based DPS rewards, imo.

I'm a Horde guy so Scryers all the way. In the end, you'll probably find that the gear you can buy from both sides does not matter much as you'll find equivalent in instances. At least the blue stuff.

As for epics, both sides have something caster-oriented but the Scryers' ring would help you more than the Aldors' necklace.

And then as for the inscriptions, it's rather trivial, in my opinion. At least, it becomes trivial once you hit Exalted.

For example, as a Moonkin at Honored you'd be interested in:
Aldor - [Inscription of Discipline] +15 Spell Damage and Healing
Scryer - [Inscription of the Orb] +13 Spell Critical Strike Rating

So there's a pretty big difference as to whether you want more SpellDmg or SpellCrit.

However, once you hit Exalted you get to "choose" between:
Aldor - +18 Spell Damage and Healing & +10 Spell Critical Strike Rating
Scryer - +12 Spell Damage and Healing & +15 Spell Critical Strike Rating

At level 70, you need about 22 SpellCrit rating for 1% SpellCrit so there's a difference of about 0.25% SpellCrit and 6 SpellDmg which amounts to 6 more damage on a Starfire and even less on a Wrath or whatever... So they're both pretty much the same.

In conclusion, it doesn't matter which side you choose. :P (Unless you're an Alchemist in which case only Scryers have a recipe)

That's funny, I'm Alliance and went Scryer for the different experience of hanging out and working with blood elves for a change. : )

Check out http://www.wowwiki.com/Aldor_vs._Scryer for good info.

I'm feral so one of the few changes I noticed was in a quest reward.
The Aldor version of the chainquest to shut down Manaforge Ara gives [Overseer's Signet]: A ring with +25 str, +15 agi, +10 hit rating, while the Scryer quest gives [Thalodien's Charm]: A necklace with +37 sta, +15 def, +15 block. Clearly the Aldor one is nice DPS, while the Scryer one is a nice tanking necklace despite the worthless +block. But if you're gonna tank you should get Necklace of the Deep anyway, so who knows. : )

As a feral leather worker, I found Scryers the way to go - my warlock feels the same - they're definately were you want to be for DPS - Aldor seems to be for healers only.
