As the subject says, I'm hoping that there are some seasoned locks out there that can tell me the point of using the firestones/spellstones? To me I just can't see the point of them, am I just not getting the point?
Firestones...not to me, no.

The spellstone is nice for pvp as it can remove a magic effect from you. There are also a few places in PVE where a spellstone is preffered such as the maiden fight in Kara. Normally it's better to have a wand equipped do to better stats, but the spellstone can be a life saver if used properly.
As for the firestone, beats me.

I guess you can hand firestones out to melee-ers? That would make sense.
Firestones are bind on pick-up so you can't give them to a melee. They increase fire dmg by (x) amount depending on the firestone level.

Yeah. Looks. If they're soulbound, that's the ONLY point.
I guess if you're destro and you use immo/conflag then it would be usefull but I agree that wands give you better stats.
endgame, fire destro benefits alot from the firestone until you can get a better wand, the spellstone is amazing for pvp vs warlocks, mages and shadow priests.
for leveling the firestone is almost impossible to replace. it's a big bonus to your ability to grind mobs faster and because it goes in the wand slot, whenever you want to wand you can just quick switch in one.

I don't know if it would be great leveling. When I leveled my lock I tended to stay away for immolate for the fact that its pulls a decent amount of agro. Then again I leveled demon/afflic so I don't know how well it would work leveling destro. I do plan on leveling another lock so I think I'll give the firestone another shot while leveling.

Firestone. No. never nada. always had a better wand. (least for affliction)
Spellstone no I always have my pvp trinket on in pvp and I want more stamina to live through the rogue 10 second lockdown not bother about a few dots ticking away on me. I can spellfight a spriest or another caster in different ways. additionally, I always have felhunter out so I don't see as much use in spellstone.

I used them a lot in the 40's, mostly because I couldn't find a good wand.
At 70, spellstones are still useful for PVP, but firestones are out-classed by wands with damage and crit. Plus wands are still usable when you're OOM and OOH.

if you're leveling. the fastest way to level is as afliction, dotting up all your targets and drain tanking + fearing. immolate is another dot to use so a firestone will help and it's hardly hard to put it + your wand on your actionbar / create a macro so that when you cast immolate you switch in the firestone and otherwise you have a wand equiped.
I always pvp with a spellstone. Wiping a full load of shadow priest dots is invaluable, it wipes lock dots too just be careful not to dispell UA off yourself or you know what happens...
Don't think I've ever made a firestone before lol. Maybe once or twice.

I wonder if Blizzard would let me trade them for a pair of -50 strength Little mermaid panties?
a firestone is worthless, MAYBE some fire destro locks will find a use for it...but i doubt it. Spellstone is nice for PVP, it is a lifesaver against other locks because it remvoes all thier dots.
