Just to go ahead and answer his question, I use swords. My guild is the third most progressed Horde guild on the server, and something like 6th overall. We're working on Kael'thas right now. The other Rogues are all different weapon specs, and all have much better gear than me. I outdamage all of them on almost every fight.
Ok, the long and short of it sword own.
They have REALLY crappy itemization though, so most rogues stick with daggers for sanity reasons. Or they stick with daggers cause they are stubborn as hell. (me)

Meh, Dagger itemization goes to hell after SSC. Sword/Fist itemization is pretty good throughout, though.
Sword itemization is actually pretty good. Outside of Arena weapons though, mace and fist itemization are both pretty poor.
