i'm leveling my 1st alt, a mage (duh) and am planing on going frost for lvling with some AoE grinding for money making/clothdrop/grinding. I was looking at this build:

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=oi0VcMczZZVAMIscxsbo (to lazy to make it look good)

Ideas? do I need PoM for this build? can I group/PvP well enough with this so I don't have to respecc a million and a half times? Also I've heard that fire makes for faster lvling is that true?

Right now I'm at lvl 12 so this is a bit far sighted but I like to plan my toons before hand so I know what I'm doing and I don't get told to "L2 play n00b". Any way thank you for your input.

Edit: Fixed link, my bad.

I know that you are trying to think ahead but you're only level 11 right now so don't worry about this build for now just level how you want I leveled frost but I heard fire is better.
Frost will give you lot's of survivability and fire will do beautiful damage. tell me actually what your looking for the best in leveling because I went shatter crits for my whole leveling experience and it was amazing.

but yeah don't worry about your 70 build for now you have a long way to go.

I'm sorry lol
If you want me to post you a good build that allows you to have raiding potencial and pvp options so you can tackle small raids like kara and 5 mans and still do good pvp, then tell me and I will post one up for you.
Sadly it has no frost in it whatsoever but it is a good build
so reply and I'll post it.

meh... it's ok This is just my 1st dive into the world of true casters so I'm kinda bumbling around a bit, and if you would please post your build I'll take a looky at it so I can get a feel for mages a bit better.

anyway I think that this build would be better with fire any way :) I think that I'll repecc a few times for AoE grinding with a full ice build.

Quote:
33 Arcane - Deeper PvE or "Big crits to pull aggro off the tank."

Arcane Subtlety - 2/2
Arcane Focus - 3/5
Magic Absorbtion - 3/5
Arcane Concentration - 5/5
Arcane Impact - 3/3
Improved Counterspell - 2/2
Arcane Meditation - 3/3
Presence of Mind - 1/1
Arcane Mind - 5/5
Arcane Instability - 3/3
Arcane Power - 1/1
Spell Power - 2/2

Again, Concentration is key here, Arcane Mind to beef up that mana pool and my all time favorite talent, Instability adding crit and damage. A solid PvE spec with big numbers. Another option with this spec is to drop Meditation and get Potency.

use both these builds together.

28 Fire - Use with 33 Arcane or "Dial 1-900-Crit-Alot"

Improved Fireball - 5/5
Ignite - 5/5
Flame Throwing - 2/2
Incineration - 2/2
Pyroblast - 1/1
Burning Soul - 2/2
Master of Elements - 3/3
Playing with Fire - 2/3
Critical Mass - 3/3
Fire Power - 3/5

Continuation of the 21 build, nice when used with 33 Arcane, centers around lots of crits from both trees. Very strong burst as well, I like this one in 5 man dungeons and smaller raids, like Karazhan.

This is a build that you can tackle small dungeons and still have great pvp options.
I'm not 70 yet but when I am, I am going with this build and going to start an all mage arena team.
have fun leveling and don't follow this build to level just follow a frost or fire lvling uild.
