Hello,

So I have been messing around with builds as of late, and to me it seems as if going the Mana Spring/Healing Stream route, and getting Mana tide, is just a waste of 6 points.

But, a freind of mine said that the + healing you get, also goes into your healing stream totem. Can anyone verify this for me?

And tell me what your average healing is with a healing stream totem per tick. Right now mine is like 10, which is why I think it is a waste.

Your healing stream totem does indeed benefit from your +healing. I can't remember what mine is off the top of me head, but I'll post back here when I next log in.

I have +720 healing, and my Healing Stream ticks for around 65 I think. I'm full Resto; I'd say that the Restorative Totems is a great talent. Mana Tide is wonderful in long boss fights; pop that along with a mana pot when you're around 40% (in a boss fight, not really on trash unless it's a bad pull), and you're set for the fight usually.

If you're going Resto, take the talents.

P.S. My armory is in my sig.

Healing Stream gets 6% of your healing per tick. In my healing set I have 891 healing and it ticks for about 70 health.

I got like 1750 + healing and my heal stream tics for 130-150ish. I havent played in a month now though so my memory is slightly off, but its surely around there.

It's the most mana efficient form of healing in the game. The above poster say's his ticks for 150 x 60 procs x 5 members = 45000 healing for what a couple hundred mana?

yeah, with enough heal gear, your healing stream totem can be a big asset to your own healing. and those talents are definately not a waste of 6 points. mana tide alone is worth it.

Both Mana Tide and Restorative Totems are awesome talents, if you are resto spec and don't take them you're crazy :-)

Healing Stream does indeed gain from your +healing and Mana Tide restores a huge amount of mana to your entire party. No good raid leader will take you without it.

I think for raiding it's definitely worth the talent points. However, I think the OP is still leveling (said healing stream is ticking for 10, which is less than what mine does as enhancement at level 50). I would think there are better places to spend these 6 points while you are still leveling. You can always pick them up in the late 60s or at 70 when you don't have any solo quests left and spend most of your time healing instances and raiding.

(disclaimer: I've never been resto so perhaps I'm missing something?)

For me mana tide is very helpful while leveling, you get 24% of your mana back every 5 minute? talk about a reduction in downtime

Yep, you are. I agree that the 5 points in Restorative Totems are kinda useless while leveling, but Mana Tide isn't it's a huge amount of mana back and will speed up your grinding process dramatically as well as being exceptionally useful in instances. The 5 points in Rest Totems are necessary in order to get MT.

This is the build I use. Between Water Shield and Shamanistic Rage, as long as I don't cast spells like crazy, I barely ever need to stop to eat/drink unless I had a bad pull.
#14 Oct 30 2007 at 10:07 AM Rating: Decent
yeah i suppose that wud help with ur mana pool not casting like crazy, so u mainly just use mana for healing and totems or the occasional runner

With plenty of +healing there's little need to not have healing stream down, except when other casters need a mana boost from mana tide. Healing totem plus a few heals for those who are being hit hard and it's unlikely you'll run out of mana. Can even throw in an LB or 5.

yeah shamans are excellent healers just no way to drop agro tho ive heald plenty of instances all the way up to 43

Just to clarify, If you put on your healing gear and throw down your healing stream totem, you will get more bang for you buck than if you had on your dps gear and the totem down. Correct ??

As a lvl 29 is it then a waste to put healing stream down when solo questing?

Just use it in groups/instances where I'll be wearing a piece or 3 of healing gear?

While leveling, I would agree with several above posters, the 6 talent points required could be better spent elsewhere. Unless you're leveing resto (and why would you want to do that???)

Healing vs. mana totmes while in a group or party depends largely on the makeup of the group.

Caster/hunters will appreciate the mana over heals because they won't be taking direct damage, melee heavy groups are the opposite.

Raids this is even more pronounced. My guild has a large caster contingent, and favors mana totems over health.

PvP, dear god if you're throwing mana over health you should be shot.

Yep. Though to be fair, most of the time it comes down to Healing Stream Totem or Mana Spring Totem for water. While soloing, Healing Stream Totem is great for high concentration areas. It may not make or break a fight, but it gives you an extra edge.

Like I said above, Healing Stream Totem gets about 6% of your healing, so if you had 100 Healing, each tick will heal for 6 additional health.

Thanks for the info. Our guild doesn't have any high level shamans and I don't think I've actually played with any high level ones either.

I wish some of you guys/gals played on aegwynn. (-:

Healing stream rox. Im 64 resto shammy. With trinket I think mine ticks for 70 or so. It's awesome. And in matter of 10,20,30 secs it's humongous offhealing while in party.
#22 Nov 01 2007 at 2:18 PM Rating: Decent
And btw mana tide rox as well :)

i'm out

Yeah, the healing is added to the whole spell, so a % of your +heal is added to each pulse of the totem.

At higher levels there are some more specific stats/bonuses on a lot of gear. Up to about 50 you will usually only see the base stats (str/int/stam etc) from 50 on you start to see stats like + Damage and healing, + Healing, Attack Power, Crit, hit rating, spell penetration, mp5 etc.

So stat priorities start to change, for example instead of just looking for Int, Spirit and Stam a resto shaman will start looking for Int, +Heal, mp5, Stam...
