i would say try it and see if it works, you will however trade high damage and big crits for more downtime. unless you plan on instance grinding non stop it will be hard to pull more than 2 or 3 guys unless they are lower than you. depends on your playstyle.

I was Destro since level 20 or so, when I figured out how to actually use talents. Before that I didn't even know what speccing meant and had random stuff all over.

I try to compare it to my other characters, but only one is past 30 yet, and he's an EZMode BM hunter.

So my only advice is.. Don't get frustrated. A destro lock has *VERY* little survivability when something goes bad. If your VW dies, and there's still more than one target left, you are almost certainly dead. Sacrifice becomes your friend, but that's almost always for running the hell away. Stam is your most important stat, followed by spell crit. I say damage comes after crit, since almost everything with crit has damage on it anyway.

It's really not that great for soloing, and it's terrible for PVP.. but it's what I play. I like how fast I can take down one target at a time, and it barely matters what demon I have out at the time. It's only there to keep them off of me for a second or two, since a normal enemy is dead in about 10.

For your character, though. Less spirit. You already have life tap, drain life and drain mana, while Affliction gives you dark pact and Destro eventually gives you Soul Leech. Locks have plenty of spells that decrease downtime. For everything else, keep lots of bandages. I *always* have 20 each of both levels of netherweave bandages, and plenty of extra cloth.

Hi there. I'm now a level 62 lock and loooove my Destruction, but I must say, low level is TOUGH!

The main reason being, there's not enough crit gear!! You put all of your points into the spec looking for good damage numbers but all you end up doing is spamming shadowbolt because that's pretty much the only spell you have.

As someone who's been there and blew 50 gold going to and changing back after a few levels, I say stay Aff. The DoT's and ability to drain-tank are much better than anything a non-critting Destruction tree can offer.

@Ehcks

i took a look in your armory..... i will reffer only to your talents:

#1 destro warlock without shadowburn... that is a great, no.. make that a huge DD spell... nice finisher.. and u can always shadowbolt followed by shadowburn when mob/player is almoust dead... get that... absolutely get that... take points out of pyroclasm..
#2 lose pyroclasm altogether... its a weak talent imo
#3 you have points in both imp imp and imp succubus.. decide which ever you want best and spec for it (if u must spec for an imp pet)
#4 get shadowburn (yeah!)... also great to pump your dps in 5mans... you know how frustrating is when the mob dies before you get that second shadowbolt off...
#5 get 3/3 demonic aegis is you are so deep in demonology tree (with 3 points from imp imp or imp succubus)
#6 get nether protection! a realy kool talent if u pvp. and it will save your bacon in pve too.
#7 get shadowburn! (yeah! again)

i love destro.. is with what i raid and do 5 mans.. great talent tree (suits my playstyle best). (yeah i'm sl/sl now ^_^ don't have the survivability (or maybe the skills ^_^ ) to play 2v2 arena with it :) (bad team partner but great irl friend :)) )
these were just my 2 cents.. my personal opinion.. don't take it personaly.. on wanted to help :)

cheers

Odd how Destruction turns into Destro when abbreviated. One of the little mysteries I've always wondered about. Just like how Gnomeregan turns into Gnomerogongonseregenensann when you need a group for it.

I've never been a fan of shadowburn. I never have enough soul shards as it is, and I always kept mistiming that spell, wasting yet another one.

I like pyroclasm because of how often I use soulfire and hellfire. Even more now that I have that mystical skyfire gem.. You have no idea how much I love using hellfire when that thing procs. 1000DPS per enemy in range; so with a pally tanking 5 or 6 guys, I'm just doing stupid damage, and I might even stun them all.

I have both improved demons because of how often I have to switch between them. Imp for bosses with AOE or for enemies that can't be seduced, and I love having even more stam. Succy obviously for seduce, but I also like using Soothing Kiss for the +13% attack time.

I'll change some talents again soon anyway, but respeccing is getting expensive, and I am horrible at making money. Took me about three days after getting 70 that I even got my epic ground mount, then almost a week more for my flyer. So I'm trying to make sure I know what I want and don't want. I already know I don't want imp health funnel.. I don't even know why I got that thing.

I leveled to 66 as destruction before ever trying out another build. I have now tried out every build I can think of, including a couple really bad ones heh.

Destruction is fine for leveling it does not seem to be as slow as some make it out to be compared to the other builds. It just can sometimes take a little extra work.

I would usually start by tanking a mob with void and dot it up then grab another mob and burn it down mage style, turn back to dotted mob and SB it. You will eventually need to sit and drink. But you can also just life tap a lot bandage and then kill one mob by just tanking with void and draining it for life then go back to slow dot one mob burn a second at the same time.

Just find a rotation that works for ya and you won't have to sit to drink too much. I drank quite a bit less than my brother who is a mage even though I could burn mobs down pretty fast. On a PvP server you do have to be careful with life tapping yourself low and then pull a mob. But just use bandages, drain life, and remember you don't have to have your camera pointing at the mob to nuke it. I always pan my camera around as I cast to make sure I don't get jumped.
