So with the flood of high level instances going on I have another gear question that I face. The issue here is that the two items are just so damn similar that I find it hard to decide.

At first the defense rating had me think it was a no brainer, but with the +8 def rating yellow gem and the fact that I am getting this tomorrow: http://www.wowwiki.com/Sha%27tari_Vindicator%27s_Waistguard
Given that I have started collecting this set now that I have the legs I am wondering if it's worth it.

It really depends on what stats you need. Why not get both?
If you need SD and INT take the Righteous or if you need mitigation and STA take the headdress
If you don't tank with Helm of the Righteous you can always save it for your solo set or to downgrade if you are in a lower level instance
Personally I like the felsteel helm more than the headdress, but it'll cost you some change

I choose neither, get the felsteel helm.
You shouldnt *need* any more spelldamage than a 121 spelldamage sword with a 40 spell damage enchant. Not yet anyway, you should just be working on your avoidance stats until you get that coveted uncrittable, then the coveted uncrushable.

Took your advice and got it, JC friend put 2 def rating/+stam gems in it and a spell damage gem for lack of anything better.
Next goal is the Righteous shoulders, I got the marks for the tanking inscription set.
Im actually currently using the headress. I stuck a +12 spelldamage meta in it. Although my reason was because I needed to save cash for my mount. Im getting the felsteel soon, I am thinking of going +12 stam x2 and one either +8 def rating or 8 Dodge.
I honestly wouldn't vendor the helm. It could have it's uses on trash. More mana, Mp5 and SD make it look like a nice trash AoE helm.
